Summit Point Shenandoah HPDE - Oct 6-7

I already have 4 other friends planning on attending this at minimum, but I'd love to see some other 370Z's at a track for once with me. You can do one day or two if you want to drive. Or, you can simply come and hang out for the weekend and see some fun racing, and maybe get a free ride-along or two to get an idea what it's like!

TrackDaze is an excellent group to HPDE with - this will be my third time with them.

Video from my last time there - the whole weekend was in the wet, minus one session when it was still damp. I've never driven the track when dry yet, so I was a bit slower than many.

I'll be down south at Z Nationals and at Barbers in Birmingham those dates so I won't be able to participate, but hope you have a great HPDE there!

I might go to this one depending on what my money situation is gonna be like. Don't know if I'll be able to spend that much at the time. Getting a new job by then will definitely help. I'll let you know if I can make it or not

I might be up for that, do I need brake ducts though on my Nismo? I have SS lines and RBF 600 fluid already done. Plus have new michelins on too. Perhaps get some XP8 pads before I go? I have the oil cooler also.

You should get new brake pads. Brake ducts, I don't even have...but I'd LIKE to get them before I go to this.

Don't let any level of preparation deter you from HPDE. Most people don't have brake ducts. I don't [yet]. XP8s are great track pads, but even stock pads are fine for a first timer on street tires. Shenandoah isn't the worst on brakes.

This event is already on my calendar, cya guys there.

Shenandoah takes the brakes off my car, ***** them behind the 711, and pisses on them when they're crumpled on the ground crying. Shenandoah doesn't even have the courtesy to call the next day. Too many braking zones, not enough speed between them to cool them off. Of course, my car sucks so YMMV, I just wanted to provide a counterpoint :)

Honda bump! Hi Bobo! I'm all registered and paid.

MightyBobo 08-16-2012 05:35 PM

Srsly, Shenandoah ***** breaks up lol. You must not be going fast enough Tak :-p

I would be concerned about the right front lip getting destroyed getting into the banking. This is what can/will happen

Yeah, if you jack up the entry that could happen. I never had an issue with it personally, but I was driving slower and in the rain last time.

cossie1600 08-17-2012 09:13 AM

I think it will happen if you go fast and just drop the car in there (hope you don't pop out)

Well the way I was instructed to hit it, is with your front right JUST on the top edge, and you dive down into the corner. That way you dont go straight-on and potentially overshoot it. Also, the impact on the suspension would be minimal when diving down.

cossie1600 08-17-2012 11:22 AM

Sounds about right, but you don't want to drop it in there too late either as it can be a disaster. As much as I hate the banking, I had actually spun going into it. THe banking was the reason why I kept off the wall as it slowed me down.

Go to the one minute mark of the video, the caroussel is pure violence to the car and suspension and tires.

Yeah I know, I was there last year. Granted again, in the wet, but I've seen plenty of video and I've felt it - it's hardly smooth haha. So I agree :)
