Any reputable powder coaters in Maryland?
Really wanted to use Mike's shop but it's in Ga and his loaner calipers are out and there's a wait list.
Would like to drive to a shop, have the work done and drive home (do they take time to set?) rather than having to take off the wheels, clamp my brake lines and put blocks behind the wheels for a week and then go through the hassle of bleeding the lines once they return. |
Basically I just want the calipers coated in red and then have the nismo logo added in black on each one.

Thanks - actually looking at this place:
CLASSIC POWDERCOATING - GAITHERSBURG, MD - POWDER COATING ANYTHING METAL, ANY COLOR ...because it's about 5 miles from where I live which is ideal. Leery because I don't know anyone who has used them but I sent them a request for a quote and am interested to see their response. Thepowdercoater.com is still my first choice but I have a show coming up on 8/11 and I'd be cutting it really close if I waited until I pick the car up on the 30th. |
I understand, and although this is a kind of full time gig for me, its also my second job, and I'm always backlogged with work, so I'm not upset if I lose a job for time concerns. The only problem you may run into is finding someone who will disassemble and reassemble them afterwards. I do 95% of my business in brake calipers (mostly corvette and camaro, but even manufacturers like stoptech refer people to me), so I do that, but most powdercoaters won't.

Yeah my thinking was that if I had to do it myself, I can yank the calipers off in my garage, have my girlfriend drive me to the shop and be back the same day. That's assuming the mock-ups they send me don't include giant airbrushed unicorns and wizards.

So after several quotes and conversations where I had to bite my tongue hard to keep from laughing/yelling, Mike is the way to go.
Literally had a shop quote me $1500+ today to powder coat calipers without clear coat and no lettering. |

Willing to wait. This will be the first time I have attempted to remove brakes on a Z. Wish me luck asdjafsf

its not that difficult. as an FYI. its a good point to also order the z1 SS brake lines and switch to the Motul Fluid.

I have an extra set of base brakes I'm not using anymore. Tried selling them but no one bite. If either of you, mike or henderson, are interested make me an offer.
afterthought: they probably won't fit the larger rotor but the offer still stands. |
