I'd probably call and make sure you get the discount somehow...might take some copying of your ID.

Home Depot ALSO gives the discount, so...

Rather than clog other threads with my photos of my progress, I'd rather just make a thread for it, and talk about my experiences with tips and tricks for others who are interested.

I'll be splitting this into multiple phases with posts for each, and updating accordingly.

Phase 1: Floor Sealant
Phase 2: Wall Paint
Phase 3: Shelving/Workbench
Phase 4: Lighting
Phase 5: The Little Things (details, random stuff)
Phase 6: ???

Congrats!!! I am in the same boat ... however it will take a while before I get to the garage since theres a lot to fix around the house :( nice garage I have a 1 car better than no garage ...

I should have told you to text me when you made it home, so I know you didn't die.

As long as you ge the bleeding kit, we'll be good. Doing that **** in the dark is...less than enjoyable. And also getting myself covered in brake fluid, YET AGAIN.

Yeah I thought about texting you too when I got home, but I thought you would be passed out by then so I didn't want to disturb you.

Yeah I'll pick up the bleeding kit on my way home from work today. I didn't go to bed till like 1:30 last night and ended up coming to work almost an hour late. It's ok though, we usually start everything here an hour late on Mondays anyways. I won't be getting off till 5 so I'll probably be at your place around 6:30 or 7.

Didnt get to sleep until like, 130 or 2. Had to scrub the **** out of myself in the shower.

Btw, that kit looks identical at any Autozone/Advance, really - little plastic bottle w/ a magnet on it. GET THE MAGNET ONE lol.

That's the first thing I did when I got home :icon17:

Ok I'll get the one with the magnet.

Looking good! I'm too lazy to do snazzy work like that, I just painted the walls boring white for now. I really should epoxy the floor though, it's pretty horrible.

Regarding tire storage, this is what I went with - unfortunately the price has gone up significantly. It works great though, and being all aluminum makes it a lot easier to work with when raising into position.

Was $250 this time last year with an additional coupon discount and free shipping.

I may have missed it or you may already have it but air compressor with hose retractor in the ceiling! Every garage needs an air compressor. Garage looks awesome so far, making me super jealous over here!

I have one already. It was just moved out of the garage while doing all the painting.

Although I do need to replace it at some point. This one is only good up to 3/8ths inch drive - my 1/2' drive impact doesnt get nearly the power it needs to do the job very well. But I can still use my wratchet and other things, naturally.

Updated pictures still coming, once I sort the garage out a bit more and make it a little more photogenic...

MightyBobo 06-05-2012 05:48 PM

Updated Shelving section with pictures of completed but unorganized area for now. Still have plenty of stuff to do, but its better than no updates...

What's been going on at Bobo's Garage (tm) the past month? Brakes, oil coolers, and coilovers - oh my!

I don't seem to have any pics of Shahid's work that we did, but it was quite a few trips to get him sorted out sadly. We painted his non-sport calipers red, swapped his pads for Carbotech XP8's. We also ran and bled some Motul brake fluid for the track (a royal PITA it seems with the non-sports...). This led to at least one very long night to get him straight for Summit Point, sadly, as painting calipers should really be an overnight job :-p. Oh yeah, we also found a smokin' deal on an oil cooler for probably 1/3rd of the price, brand new, on craigslist. He snatched it up, and we put that in not long ago.

This past weekend, my friend with an 02 Mustang GT finally decided he wanted to do something with his car, to hit the road course. He's owned it since brand new, back in 2002, and it doesn't even have an intake or exhaust on it yet. He decided to go with a Maximum Motorsports coilover kit to replace his entire suspension (among many other little bits, like urethane bushings left and right). We spent 2 days working on it and dealing with snags (and, in general, taking our time drinking beer) til we got the fronts done. Rears will be completed this Thursday. Pics of work below:

Turned into a mod orgy at Bobo's place, when his friend lost power after the big storm. Turns out, I'm so bad-*** that storms don't f-ck with me - I f-ck with storms, and my house was spared of any power outages. Camaro kid installed an intake and a 1-4 skip-shift eliminator.

The new suspension! I bet she handles...

You're not doing it right if you aren't modding at 1:30 in the morning.

I probably missed it if you did mention it but did you do the clear epoxy finish as well? If not do you wish you did? how about the antiskid stuff as well?

DEFINITELY do the anti-skid. My buddy slips on his even when warm if its wet out. I cant imagine what winter would be like.

I did NOT do the clearcoat on mine. I knew it'd get jacked up anyway likely, over time, so I didnt want to invest a LOT more money on something that looks pretty, when I know I'll be doing real work on it. The clear coat is nice if you intend to just park on the garage floor...not use jackstands and **** on it lol.

MightyBobo 11-05-2012 09:59 AM

Also, I need to update with my pictures that I hung!

4r3s 11-05-2012 06:34 PM

be very glad you had a brand new garage to do this to. I've got a lot of prep work to get oil stains and random crap off the floor. Pretty much spent the entire day scrapping **** off the floor today...
