They're all yellow. Mine is too and I'd love to have a red/black/gunmetal, hell even invisible one just so long as it isn't yellow. If you find one, let me know!

I'm gonna call around to powder shops and see If they'll do the dipstick for cheap.

Just occurred to me that the coolant tank can't be powdered because it'd melt (lol). It'd have to be painted.

I did. I bought the entire hose set including the breathers for aftermarket intakes. Did D&V miss one?

Yeah I'd go with powder. Calipers take too much of a beating to be painted.

Yeah, and the dipstick handle is plastic, so it would melt as well. Painting is the only option, unless you get the can of plasti-dip and actually "dip" it into it... which might work??

I don't know, looking at that picture I can still see the black boxes. Either you don't have them, or D&V left the boxes in the piping system.

I painted the ones on my tC once and they did the same thing. Looked great for the first month... 6 months later started having flakes. With every wash I lost more paint. :shakes head:

Yeah it's fine, I didn't expect too much from it.

Well they gave me all of my rubber hoses back and didn't have any silicone left over. Can you show me what you're talking about?

Meh it was a fun DIY and cost considerably less than getting them powdercoated.

My Z will probably be going away around the same time. I'm not upgrading my brakes anymore. Mine are good enough for the track so I'm not spending anymore money on them just for looks. When I get rid of the car, I'll give the calipers some sanding to get it back to OEM look.

How long will you be keeping it for? Part out prior to sell?

b1adesofcha0s 02-27-2013 09:02 PM

Will be getting a new car after I get the house. Probably in a year or two. There will be a part out.

The MAF Tubes will be yours by the middle of March if all goes according to plan my friend. :tiphat:

eastwest2300 02-27-2013 09:23 PM

All right duuude.

XwChriswX 02-27-2013 09:27 PM

Is there anyone that needs/wants a set of K&N drop ins? Mine will be up for grabs as well.

MyKindaGuise 02-27-2013 09:50 PM

Oh hey guys...so I apparently go through turbos faster than I do underwear.

Im upgrading from the H1C Holset....

Getting a BorgWarner S259, T3 flange, .70a/r, with upgraded billet compressor wheel.

Its like a $1600 turbo haha. Should be here next week.

Here is a pic...

XwChriswX 02-27-2013 09:58 PM

Are all these turbos that you're going through going to match well with the VQ, or are you just trying to get the biggest sucker you can get to fit in the engine bay?

And you're doing a single turbo right? Not twin?

b1adesofcha0s 02-27-2013 10:01 PM

Nice turbo :yum:

No these will all work so far. I couldn't find an hx40 so I decided to go to the next step up and this was it. Its a bit bigger but good for 600whp+. Our engines flow a crap ton of exhaust gas so I should still spool this around 3k rpms and max boost around 3500rpms. This will just give me more top end. While keeping low end torque as hell. I'm not coming twins because it wouldn't fit easily up top. It'd in future plans though. This is also a nodded s259 with a nicer compressor wheel so my spooling guess mighty be off a little...it'll probably spool faster than at 3k

I promise there is thought and consideration and a lot of math going into these purchases. Also I'm making money off of the original h1c turbo :D

Have you taken any measurements of where you plan to put it to make sure it will physically fit in the spot you plan to put it?? :icon17:

I'd hate to see you have this thing in your garage, and find out then it's too big to pipe around. :ugh2:

We've done some stuff in AutoCAD and so far everything lines up. It should actually use less space than the S&R kit.

Then stop turbo fapping and hurry up and build the kit! I wanna see it already. :bowrofl:

Haha I'm sorry there justv too many turbos out there for me to love just one. :bowrofl:

Also I may be getting a loaner here shortly to drive so I can build my case and save some money to buy a nicer daily. Cross your fingers everyone. Might have serious developments in the next 2-3 weeks.

The intake is different, but the piping is the same. The Z1 tubes will work with any intake.

What I'm telling you is that the Z1 breather tubes are on the car already. I circled them in the picture above.

Then just undo them from the plastic boxes, remove the plastic boxes, and put the breather tubes on your stillen pipes.

Where your circles are, the black plastic boxes in the breather system, next to the engine cover...

I can't make any guarantees that I'll be there, but if I am sure I'll show you.

dmhenderson 02-27-2013 10:39 PM

I just ordered two cans of plastidip: Black for the coolant tank and red for the dip stick. I'm going to hit both with a really fine grain sandpaper and dip them.

I *think* that because they're not exposed to the elements, they won't get that weird "aged" look dip tends to get after a few months. If not, they can't look worse than they do already.

Make sure to put a thin piece of pinstripe tape on the inside of the coolant tank so you'll still be able to check fluid level inside... I might do that one myself eventually to get rid of the ugly plastic, maybe even the PS bottle as well... :icon08:

As for the dipstick, as long as you're not using it all the time, and just redip prior to shows, it should work. I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

b1adesofcha0s 02-27-2013 10:46 PM

Plasti dip doesn't require any sanding. If you want to do it, go ahead but it's not necessary. Just make sure the area is clean.

Sales@AAMComp 02-28-2013 08:34 AM

My buddy did his coolant tank and just taped off the area where the scale is so he can still check the levels. Sticks well, won't burn off, none of that

DM isn't the purpose of aftermarket breather tube to eliminate the black boxes that are inline?

Masa 02-28-2013 08:49 AM

Yeah, those black boxes are just resonators for sound. The tubes can attach directly to the G3's.
