He was cool about it, though. That night he called the insurance company to set me up as a driver on the car. I was 17 at the time so it was $345 a month. He looked at me and said "if you get one ticket... just one... I'm going to murder you."

I went later to meet up with some friends at the mall. It was raining out and I couldn't figure out how to do a donut.

That was definitely my favorite car because it was a first for everything. I learned everything about driving and wrenching on that car.

I owe my dad so much :bowrofl:

nope, i dont think so buddy, you're not fvcking up my clutch.

I think it's time for you to put up or shut up buddy. I can't magically turn my car into a manual to show that I can drive one. Otherwise, you can just ask Rob.

Same with my Z. It was the first car I bought on my own that lasted more than 4 months :roflpuke2:

b1adesofcha0s 02-08-2013 01:20 PM

I learned all my DIY skills from Steve, Kirk, Rob, and my cousin :rofl2:

put up or shut up what? you wanna borrow my car?....nawwwww I dont think so, if you could drive stick, you WOULD be driving a manual transmission, but you're NOT, you're driving an automatic.

Just sayin...facts are facts buddy.

My dad taught me, too. I think I might've been 10 or 11 years old. He had a little Honda hatchback and he'd take me out to practice in it. Came in handy later. All my cars from 1994-2003 were MT.

We're lucky to have good dads.

eastwest2300 02-08-2013 01:28 PM

But wait, if you know how to drive a manual, why do you have an automatic Z?

eastwest2300 02-08-2013 01:28 PM

If I could drive stick when I bought my car maybe, but I'm not going to waste thousands of dollars to sell my car and buy another one just to get a manual. Yes, facts are facts so stop with the made up BS. I know plenty of people who can drive stick, but still bought an automatic :tiphat:

I test-drove one MT when I was ready to buy. It was a used 2012 with 1k miles, black cherry, great condition. I hated how the clutch felt. It felt like my knee was in my chest when it began to engage. I stalled it three times in the parking lot and then couldn't find reverse. Having heard that there's significant variation in units, in hindsight it would've been wise to test drive others, but I just decided to go with the paddle shifters. Maybe the next car will be stick...

Yeah I had a hard time adjusting to the clutch in the Z at first too but eventually got used to it.

Then, I drove around my brother's Jeep Wrangler. Clutch on those things make the Z's clutch feel like a Honda clutch. :bowrofl:

ahhhh ok.. I thought I missed something, atleast you gave it a shot, I would let you drive my Z because you have experience in driving a stick rather than "some" people that claim to know how to drive a stick.:roflpuke2:

Masa 02-08-2013 01:37 PM

I actually wish the clutch feel in the Z was like that in my Civic Si and in the S2000.

RandyD 02-08-2013 01:37 PM

NOTICE - D will let Aniceh use his stick but not Blades...

I will definitely take you up on that, just to see what it's like. I did enjoy driving MT when I had one. It was stop-and-go traffic that made me switch to auto when my car was totalled in 2003.

It was a gorgeous car, practically new, in one of the two colors I wanted, well-equipped, and already had suffered some of the depreciation that happens once a car is titled. If it weren't for my disagreement with the clutch, I probably would've bought it.

eastwest2300 02-08-2013 01:46 PM

I think its pretty common for a brand new car's clutch to be a little rough initially.

aniceh 02-08-2013 01:49 PM

It probably didn't help matters that the only MT I'd operated recently was on a motorcycle and I was getting used to the feel of the wet clutch, which you're supposed to slip.
