You can even poison yourself with water, believe it or not. Most of the health risks ARE associated with the additives in cigarettes, which include arsenic and tar.

Caffeine is bad for humans. It can lead to sleep deprivation, hyperactivity, and several stress-related conditions. It can be used to excess as well, and speaking from personal experience, it can have dramatic withdrawal symptoms.

I'm not defending smoking. I just think your attitude against one legal substance while accepting the other rapidly abused and similarly dangerous substances is hypocritical.

But we've veered way off topic. I think we both agree that cigarette smoking is bad for your health, and 4r3s here is doing a great service to himself by quitting.

Comparing water to Nicotine is laughable. Come on! Nicotine is a Poison. Period. A drop of it can kill a horse.
And comparing caffeine to Nicotine is like comparing sugar to Heroine. That's a fact.

Anyway back on track. OP knows what I am talking about as he has been on www.whyquit.com ;) Keep it up man!

We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm tired of arguing with you. You have your views, I have mine. The bottom line is they cannot ban nicotine for the same reason alcohol prohibition failed, and that's all I was trying to point out.

And yes, water poisoning exists. But you're too busy twisting my words to cede a single point. Never said water is a poison. Never said caffeine is "as bad" as heroin. Just said it's addictive.

lol you really nailed me. I'm a smoker, that's why I've posted in this thread to help support 4r3s' decision to quit. Yup, totally. You can ask any of these local guys who've met me. Can't keep the cancer stix outta my mouf.

tjlazer 05-01-2011 10:14 AM

Sorry man it just seems you sure are defending it. Once you do the research you will see how bad it really is. I just get tired of people comparing it to coffee, sugar, etc. There really is no comparison. If you want to compare it to something, compare it to Heroine. :)

Well I agree it's never gonna get banned. It's too much of a cash cow, especially in hard economic times. :ughdance:

Best people can do is never try it so they can not get hooked on it. It's a nasty habit. I wish everyone the best in luck trying to kick it. It's extremely hard--but it can be done.

Hope the OP is on track still. :)

:iagree: I also think that if they did ban it, it would be incredibly difficult to clean up the current junkies without a struggle.

Sorry if I got us off track, tj. <3

hey now guys, play nice = ) Anyway in response to the previous messages I think any adult should have the right to put whatever they want in their bodies in the privacy of their own home as long as it doesn't have a negative effect on surrounding people and environment.

So yeah I'm on day 32 now still going strong. Had some good tests over the weekend as I hung out with a bunch of smokers at a house party Saturday night. Yes I put myself in this situation on purpose to test myself and I really wanted a drag but I held out and it felt great!

Actually if you go back far enough in this thread you can see basically the same thing happened to me. Use it as an incentive man, quit smoking and upgrade the type of woman you can date! Seriously me being stressed out over my gf breaking up with me was a great way to give me something else to think about other than smoking. Don't get me wrong it freaking sucks but you can do it.

So yesterday I totally forgot to put the patch on. Didn't realize it till midday when I was chewing the hell out of a pen and fidgeting like crazy. Anyway I made it through and I decided not to wear the patch today either and see how it went. So far so good, but I did bring a back up just in case.

You want to know how to quit? Seriously? Here is what I did:

I sat down outside - nice lawn and what not... broke out three packs of the harshest cigs I could take and chain smoked those fuckers till I puked... and then I smoked a couple more till I was nauseated from just breathing... About 1 1/2 packs down in 45-50 minutes and trust me - you will never want another cig ever again. Its been like 4 years since that day - but even today if one of my friends offers me one - I get this terrible gag reflex...

Worked for me and unless you are insanely addicted to it - it should work for you as well..

The thing with me is, I don't enjoy smoking as much as before, its just an excuse to go outside and take some puff, I can't even finish one cigarrett but I keep on wanting to smoke !!

And yes, I puked once from smoking but that didn't stop me .... ****** up **** I'm in
