They have a few stores (not full grocecy stores) around but they are really expensive, you are in the middle of nowhere. Plus they have a place to eat. You also have free dinner for 2 days when you register for ZdayZ. However, you better stock upon your individual necessities. Try to top off a few miles before you get to Fontana also.

You also don't need a cabin and by now they must be gone, but you can get a room. Also some people either cancel or need a roommate to share the cost.

m4a1mustang 02-09-2011 08:07 AM

^ What he said.

The lodge rooms run around $89/night. The general store is expensive so be sure to bring everything you think you will need so you don't need to buy anything. Friday and Saturday night banquet dinners are included in your $65 registration, so you only need to worry about breakfast and lunch depending on when you get there.

You definitely want to stay on location because the nearest hotels are like 10+ miles away.

sig11 02-09-2011 08:38 AM

You can get groceries about 30 minutes away in Robbinsville... Roads are pretty anyway. :P

the closest grocery store is in Robinsville about 30 mins (of good driving, granted) away. that usually the closest you will have good cell signal. if you have verizon they have a hot spot at the lodge using a VoIP router. gas is also cheaper down there as well but there are a couple small stores in the FVR area. the first year i went we stayed at the "closest" hotel to FVR that wasn't on site. it was a 20 min drive away. while it was a decent place to stay, we really missed the true ZdayZ experience. the best place to stay is at the resort so book now!

Agreed - Staying at the resort is the Real Deal... everything else is a facsimile... A friend booked a room just last week... Recommended food for Zdayz is the following:
Beer
Beer
Beer
Beer
a bag of Sub rolls
a bag of lunch meat
some mayo
a bag of chips
Beer
Beer
Beer
Beer

If you run out of any or all of the above - you can always catch a snack at the Moutainview bistro... The Pizzas are huge & work well when shared between 3... Tony, Papo, wouldn't you agree?

96 days and a wake up... See all you east coast fellas on the 18th - Just outside Richmond VA!:worship:

Keep in mind Robbinsville is a dry town so no booze at the grocery.

Make sure you pack it or pick it up before you get there.

FuszNissan 02-10-2011 05:35 PM

Sup Ken!

You going this year?

2theextreme 02-10-2011 05:50 PM

Good call. I forgot about that. Us MI guys picked up enough beer for the weekend when we stopped on the way in. :)

I'm afraid we're going to be stuck with a big empty cabin for two this year though. We've already lost two guys.

they will open up a few more cabins for rent as the event gets closer, also some people will have to cancel so don't give up, just keep trying every couple weeks. or try to find someone on the forum looking for one more person in their cabin

red6spd 02-12-2011 12:18 AM

I'm not giving up but I looking at other places to stay. Any suggestions. How important is it that I stay at Fontana Resort?? Any events take place there?

Oh and my women is coming as well, so privacy is a must wink wink lol

I was worried that would happen...

m4a1mustang 02-12-2011 07:03 AM

Well I'm sure there are people that still have open rooms in their cabins that might be willing to split. I would offer but I'm fully booked.

Kirkster 02-12-2011 07:48 AM

This place is nice and just at the bottom of the dragon. Reasonable rates and the have cabins also.

Cant get in touch with them, both numbers out of service, I think I'm gonna end up staying at the Country Hearth Inn, 15 miles from dragon.

Yeah, there was! I brought all the supplies and cooked a huge meal in my cabin. I think I fed at least 6 people with plenty left over.

Aside from cabins, the FVR has the lodge as well. So basically hotel rooms at decent rates. This way you stay onsite at FVR and can stagger back to your room with no worries of driving. As you will want to stick around the resort grounds.

All the hotel rooms are booked to!!!!!!! except like the holy sh** ones. I dont drink so driving its not the problem.

tooohip 02-12-2011 12:08 PM

Just call fvr and get on the waiting list.

FuszNissan 02-15-2011 09:04 AM

Just bring a hammock and sleep under the stars. You can guard the smurf from any unexpected rain drops, that way Tony won't have to wash his car at 2 am.

red6spd 02-15-2011 09:17 AM

Okay so I was told to call the FVR during the day today and talk to a manager who knows about all the upcoming events and maybe get a room/cabin. If that dont work I am probably just goning to book with the Country Hearth Inn which is about 15 miles from the FVR and the dragon. I would to stay at Tapoco lodge but I still cant get in touch with them??? And now I cant find the link to pay for my registration, I e-mailed Brian and have not gotten a response back, guess I'm just going to have to wait for the 10 days to be over and re-register. I hope this dam trip will be worth it.
