Then went to carmax to look at an 09 c63 amg....

So ive always loved the c63, as well as the cts-v. First, besides the BEAUTIFUL sound the c63 made, it was pretty shtty. Rode like a log wagon, and unless you weight 160lbs, you wont fit in the seats with those incredibly high seat bolsters. Overall, not a bad car, but coming from the cts-v, it was cruddy.

Then there was the cts-v.......lets just say the value for the money was wayyyyyyy better than the benz. This is the third ctsv I test drove but the first one I drove I had a dbag salesman that wouldnt let me go above 40, the second one I drove I had 3 other friends (one pushing 300lbs) so it felt like a dog. I hopped back into my z and I wanted to cry. I dogged the hell out of the sedan I had last night, and I even felt it handled better than my Z since it has PSS tires on it. What a machine....

14 more months!!

Thanks for the impressions, cris

I'll probably test a cts-v before pulling the trigger on my z06/sti/stang next month. There's a manual sedan I might get transferred to white marsh carmax

Now the thing about the cts-v was, it FELT heavy. I mean, the car is 4300lbs (auto)...It still had the power like crazy, but you can feel the heaviness in the corners. But for a 4300lb car, it handled great. The Benz is like 500lbs lighter but has less power and shifts MUCH quicker. The Benz also FELT sportier, it handled a tad better, but even all the positives of the Benz, unless youre pushing 180lbs tops, your back will be take a beating in those seats, my kidneys were killing me after test driving it for a half hour (much to the disappointment of the carmax salesman who was getting a little frustrated that I kept driving it lol). But the interior is what was really crappy, the nav wasnt touch screen, no usb or ipod outlets, just a LOT more basic, not to mention all of the creaks I heard and the car only had like 30k on the clock.

Oh, and insurance is VERY high with the caddy. For me, im paying 53 a month full coverage for my z, it would jump nearly 40 a month with a caddy. The Benz, it actually went down a dollar a month.

I am driving down to fredericksburg to test out a nice coupe cts-v again, and hopefully the salesman will let me take it over 40 this time around!

Insurance is a major concern, so I'll check that out. Surprised about the creakiness. Z is the most expensive insurance quote I've had. More than a mustang, wrx sti, and even a z06.

Yeah the caddy is VERY high insurance. To me a 40 dollar increase a month is a lot.

I just got a quote for the coupe....a 2011 cts-v coupewas an increase of 48 bucks a month...

Al, make sure if you test drive ctsv's, test both the ones with recaros and base, the base seats are a LOT more comfortable, the recaros were sportier but if youre going to drive this car on long trips, I can see them getting uncomfortable. Plus the cooled seats are awesome.

What up y'all :tiphat: Been busy with the new job but actually have an easy day to internet surf today. It's about time for me to troll the dealerships so heading to Germantown to dicker with the salesmen this weekend. They have almost 2 dozen Zs and 9 are Nismos. Figure they might be getting hungry as the end of the year is approaching and they are advertising 2013 Nismos for a little over $40K. Let's see if I can get that number to closer to $35K and then see what they'll give for mine

Great time to negotiate!

Chris, so are you gonna buy it or are you gonna keep on dreaming about it?

Cristobal09 10-23-2012 11:36 AM

Its going to be another year before I get one, but I WILL get one. Its been a dream car of mine since it came out back in late 2008. Then when the coupe came out I wanted it even more but wasnt going to make a huge purchase (50 grand plus) on a car when I wasnt sure about my job security, but since we won the recompete for another 7 years, im set. I test drove a coupe on Sunday and it was amazing. I had it for about 20 minutes while the salesman took a nap in the backseat (LOL, hard night of drinking the night before) and it handled almost as well as the Z considering it weighs about 900lbs more. This was a little more of a positive experience than when I test drove the 5.0 (which I hated) a few months back haha. Im just paying off credit card debt and going to save up a good amount for a down payment, then it should be mine by around christmas of 2013.
