Red Lead and Yellow Lead will work it out.

Red Leader to Gold Leader.....oh...wait...wrong movie.

m4a1mustang 04-26-2010 11:34 AM

So we really need to revisit this. Have we settled on a route, yet?

tooohip 04-26-2010 11:56 AM

It will need to be Option 2 or some variation of it since option 1 is off the table after the rock slide. That is unless they finish it up much earlier than anticipated.

m4a1mustang 04-26-2010 11:59 AM

So let's just roll with Option 2. Our first stop could be the Harrisonburg rest area as that's pretty spacious and will give everyone a chance to piss.

We can stop again in Radford/Christiansburg for gas and lunch.

tooohip 04-26-2010 12:04 PM

Works for me...

ZCarMan 04-26-2010 03:08 PM

Sounds like a plan.

m4a1mustang 04-26-2010 03:10 PM

Just have to figure out where the final stop for fuel should be... probably somewhere near Ashville.

Yep, we should fill up and get any other supplies, food, drink, etc in Ashville (if you don't already have it). ;-)

m4a1mustang 04-26-2010 03:28 PM

Well, FWIW, I am brining a tool kit and some other crap in case anyone breaks down..

My car will be loaded with **** people might actually need. :D

zZSportZz 04-26-2010 05:32 PM

Can't wait. I'm getting more and more excited.

ZCarMan 04-26-2010 05:34 PM

It'll be one heck of a road trip for sure!

You thinking about doing the headlights black?

Yeah, don't think they will be ready before ZDAYZ though. I'm gonna wait till they have a set of housings there instead of buying them now.

They said they might be interested in buying mine from me so that could be yours! Mine should arrive there this week no later than Thursday so I'm hoping they'll be done the following week.

m4a1mustang 04-26-2010 06:11 PM

Damn I wish I had money to blow... I'm spent! There's so much I want to get done before ZDayZ but it's gonna have to wait!

Tell me about it. I have money to spend but I'm saving for a solid house down payment. Its driving me insane. You have NOOO idea how close I've come to caving and modding the Z.

Would be nice if we could find a place near Ashville to get some bugs washed off the Z's -- we'll ALL have some dead bugs on the noses & side mirrors....

I plan in detailing at every stop. If you don't you probably won't be able to get everything off at the last stop.

Griot's Garage also sells some temporary travel film... probably doesn't look great but it can't be that bad if you want easy clean up.

Edit: http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...rrivals&page=1

Maybe a little research project between now and then, I agree -- probably doing a little touch up at each spot isn't a bad idea

They have a car wash area setup at Fontana Village.

Don't need it if you have a waterless car wash w0w0w0w.

BTW... we're driving down together... but what about coming back up? lol.

Good question. I'm sure more than a few of us will want to caravan back. I'm undecided on my Sunday plans though as I'm off on Monday. I may take the scenic route back. ;-)

I'm off Monday as well... Dunno if I can stand that much time in the car, though. :icon18:

Seems like it's a little thicker and has a light adhesive. I think maybe with a squeegee (sp?) and some quick detailer it could be a pretty decent looking temporary protectant.

Yeah, I'll probably be ready to head straight home. Guess I'll play it by ear.

Oh, I've got 9,650 miles on my car right now... The big 10K fast approaches! :ugh2:

I'll be at 20k by the time we meet up to leave for ZDayZ! I'm at ~18500 right now. :shakes head:

tooohip 04-27-2010 08:39 AM

Well at least your driving it! I bet Tony isn't up to 3K yet, LOL!

m4a1mustang 04-27-2010 08:41 AM

I think I'm going to order a roll of that film... If it works cleanup will be a breeze -- just peel the bugs off!!!

zZSportZz 04-27-2010 10:49 AM

Hrmmm that film is interesting. only 30 bucks too. I might try it as well. However, touch ups at our stops might be good enough. Really don't want to look like a tool driving down there, especially with a line of Z's that will garnering a lot of attention.

I don't care what I look like. I might try to find a big white diaper to put on her rear!

I'm sure with some care and patience you can do a pretty clean "install".

:shakes head: I'l have you know I've elipsed 6100. :bowrofl: Of course I've put about 1000 of those miles on in the past few weeks with all the trips to Leehigh and now D&V!

Just wanted to post this up here, as I live in Indiana and this was one of my concerns..

My buddy lives in Knoxville TN and said the Dragon is closed at the TN entrance until late September. The only way to enter the Dragon is through NC, and once you get to the end you have to turn around and come back.

Yep, we are aware of that, but thanks for the post.

My z has almost 100 thousand miles on it :(

zZSportZz 04-27-2010 06:10 PM

10024 miles....uggh. Just hit the big 10k.

Dayum! That's big time. Are you the only owner or did you pick it up used?

Back on topic -- I'm on Griot's Garage right now about to order a roll of that protective film and possibly a couple other things. :shakes head:
