also...does this mean that resonated test pipes smell, and test pipes that are not resonated do not ?

All test pipes will cause your car to smell

Certainly a bummer to hear that. I fart in it occasionally (not on purpose), I suppose that's bad enough so I wouldn't want to exasperate the smell issue.

So...is it safe to say HFCs do not smell. And is it also safe to say that LTHs smell ? I guess LTHs would as it seems like it is just a header with a test pipe combined.

m4a1mustang 01-14-2012 02:28 PM

Right. HFC will smell pretty close to what your car normally smells like.

Like an old car without emissions controls. Test pipes remove the catalytic converters, so you're going to smell untreated exhaust.

A last option would be, buying it on eBay, but you'd have to get it painted although, you may be able to find it on eBay that includes it being prepped, primered and painted all in the same deal. Have a look see.

Check with Z1 ... they might have one and it's just not on the site. Only one they have listed is a MB for $225.00 but might not hurt to ask as I am sure they have alot of Z **** laying around.

Probably better that you don't replace that... Then you would have to dent some other part of your car...

Is an ART pipe considered the same thing as resonated test pipe ? On the scale of smelliness.

SMELLS BAD <<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>> SMELLS NORMAL
TEST PIPES -----RESONATED TP --- ART---HFC--------STOCK

b1adesofcha0s 01-15-2012 12:38 PM

What do you guys think about this one I found on eBay?

Art pipes are resonated test pipes.

All test pipes are gonna let you smell exhaust gases. I would not run them on a car unless I was going all out.

HFCs will be slightly worse than stock, but probably not noticeable.

Personally, I woulda waited, I mean why get rid of a messed up bumper for a new bumper that has damage?? Hopefully, its not that bad, hopefully.

Bumper with 2 small scratches: $170 shipped.
New bumper + paint: $800.

The new bunper isn't going to stay perfect forever especially since I drive the Z over 20k miles per year.

eastwest2300 01-15-2012 01:53 PM

I hear what you're saying, but I just woulda spent a couple weeks looking for one on here, eBay, amazon and OEM places online, but $170 is a heck of a price.

b1adesofcha0s 01-15-2012 01:57 PM

I've been looking for a while now, but this deal was too good to pass up.

eastwest2300 01-15-2012 01:58 PM

Dude where did you find that bumper for $800? that had to be from Nissan directly.

b1adesofcha0s 01-15-2012 02:08 PM

New bumper is like $300-400 and then another $300-400 to paint it. Got two quotes from two different body shops back when I first had my accident.

eastwest2300 01-15-2012 02:49 PM

Damn... well that sucks bro.

:iagree:

Better to have damage on the bottom lip and scratches from speedbumps/curbs where no one will notice than having a very visible dent right in the center.
