Update, sorta...

As some of you saw, new Amuse exhaust is now installed. No videos yet, gotta find myself some cash to get a GoPro HD cam, or link up with some members here and borrow one. Enjoying the exhaust quite a bit. As someone who came from a Fast Intentions system, it's definitely...different. Much quieter in the cabin, but still howls like a demon with the taps open. I love it; the pipes are starting to burn in a little too, so that's some extra amusement for me  I'll take shots the next time the car's up (probably to install the midpipe heading this way).

For those of you who have been hiding under a damn rock, here's the link, with pictures and dyno vids / results: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...vids-dyno.html

Next exhaust upgrade: R1 Titan Midpipe. Yep, full amuse from the cat-back, go figure. SACLAM might make a better midpipe, but I'm sticking to my guns here. And Amuse isn't complaining either, judging from the hole they're ripping in my wallet.

Still nothing compared to what Tony's spent ;) I'll refrain from obvious jokes

Yesterday was a BIG day though, because Mike@370ztune reported that the Vestito kit is in! Thanks to Ai and Mike for setting up a near immediate pickup, and Winnie out at the warehouse for helping me out with everything.

Now Mike took some good shots of the kit in its raw form: http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...stito-raw.html

Now I don't exactly have a big *** warehouse at home...so I had to be more creative in storage until this weekend :icon14: Sorry, camera phone pics only, but meh they're not final shots anyway

Yippee!

Holy sh*t it filled up my Suburban! The boxes were massive, couldn't take them home :(

Strewn about my garage...

So the schedule for the next month or so:
-Get car stuck in body shop to install kit
-Get Lou to provide me a certain missing part
-Get Marco / Ryan to work on my headlights while car is stuck in body shop

Not gonna have the car to play with for a while, it seems.

One question for everybody. I don't have a lick of 'brilliant silver' anywhere on the car except for the handles. What should I do with them? Color match? Matte black? Bit of both!?

2theextreme 04-09-2010 11:18 AM

A bit of both colors on the handles....hmmmm....that could be interesting! And the headlights....I bet they are gonna look sweet!

Short update. So the kit and car is in the shop...sigh :( I miss waking up the neighborhood with a nice V6 howl...

Anyway, the kit looked great on initial impression, but right now the body shop thinks otherwise. Slightly perturbed by that, as Baker-Jackson Nissan got Mothra together with a near 'perfect' fit. Wonder what makes this one off? Or is it really off...?

I'm having the shop do a complete test fit before they really go "yeah...it doesn't fit well at all" and charge for my kidney to continue forward. Hopefully it all works out and work starts this weekend...somewhere lol.

When the car is down, though, off go the headlights for a bit of modding

Still waiting on new parts from a vendor here and there. *cough cough* lol

I'm thinking right now I'm gonna color-match the handle. Yes / no?

theDreamer 04-15-2010 06:44 PM

On red, not 100% sure, do not think anyone has done it yet.
Of course if you had PG or white or black it would be an easy yes, but you had to pick red. :p

FuszNissan 04-19-2010 12:55 PM

Don't think a bleeding lung is an excuse

SkyZ 04-27-2010 08:50 PM

how bout those picts?

So either Baker-Jackson got really lucky with their kit, or I got the short end of the stick...anyway, there's been a lot of work by the body shop to get the kit on nicely. This is the rear, and they say it was all wavy and crap when I brought it in.

Okay...it wasn't THAT wavy to me, but they're the experts not me.

The front bumper was more of the same I guess. Anyhow progress continues..should have everything but the wing on by this week.

MRWorks has delivered my headlights back too, I need to get some pictures of those up soon...if I get some in my e-mail soon... *cough*Marco*cough* lol

Or else they're gonna have to deal with crappy camera phone pics from me!

theDreamer 05-02-2010 08:25 PM

Wait, I thought you had a red car? :p

Trips 05-02-2010 08:28 PM

Maybe during the shipping it caused some issues?

i've thought about that too. i did pay the cheap route and had it sent on a ship. but the boxes were immaculate so i assume they didn't get whacked during transit.

WITH THAT SAID, i was not impressed with Amuse when i opened up the boxes. there was nothing in there that would break any falls or whatnot. No bubble wrap, no paper, nothing! that completely took me off guard. so while the boxes were okay, maybe they got beat up when the boxes were moved around...and flipped...or what not.

Togo 05-02-2010 09:06 PM

wow that sucks phelan.. i hope it all comes out alright

Marco_xyz 05-02-2010 10:00 PM

Togo 05-03-2010 04:57 PM

Wow nice work, you shaved the landing strip indents! looks really nice phelan. when thats on your car with the kit and everything is all painted i bet it's going to look really great. are you going to be keeping your hood and hatch exposed CF or painting that too?

phelan 05-05-2010 01:03 AM

Headlights, pillars back at the bodyshop. I need to go to the Z store tomorrow evening and grab a rear fog light as well.

I'm kind of depressed over how long this is taking, but I'm not about to start rushing things. I want the kit to come out the best it possibly can. At the same time though...I dropped the car 4/10, it's now 5/4. Bah.

This does mean there is a very good chance the Z will not see the STILLEN open house this weekend, and that bums me out big time. Even if the body shop does call me and says it's done, they will have put it back together per my instructions - don't touch the hatch, do not install the wing until I get the stock piece back. I don't want the CF look on the pillars or hatch; it'll stay restricted to the hood (and even that I eventually plan to paint over a majority of it).

So the car is going to look really weird for a while.

simota1 05-05-2010 01:18 AM

dont worry man  our cars have to look ugly at one point in time to turn out looking badass in the end :D

Marco_xyz 05-05-2010 01:51 AM

^^^agreed

Don't worry phelan, the line between genius and madness is measured by the number of people you have to kill to succeed.

On another note, the more and more pics I see of MRWork's... Work lol The more I like. I can't wait to be able to ship a set to them and get my headlights modded as well.

Looks good, do you have a side shot farther away? Almost wonder if it "works" without the wing maybe (giving myself ideas...must stop before I spend more money).

fairladyZ34 05-18-2010 09:08 PM

that looks raw! even without the spoiler
