[Equinox] Nismo, RX-7, G8 GXP Photoshoot

Took pictures of the car today, and decided to include the other cars in it as well. Rx-7 is a 1996 imported from Japan, so it's Right hand drive. DIdn't have a motor and trans when I brought it over, so now it has a 6.0L V8 LS2 from the 2006 Pontiac GTO(or Corvette). Carbon fiber fenders, hood, T56 Tranny 6-speed, 11.5" wide rear rims, 100 shot of nitrous, headers, cold air intake, and other random stuff. 4" reverse y'd exaust because of the chassis channeling only allowing 1 outlet, and car gets 29 mpg, lol.

Wife's car is a 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP, V8 LS3 6.2L (415hp). So far I've installed the Holden Centerconsole dash with integrated GPS (can't get these cars with GPS) and installed a rear view camera. Exhaust is planned and I'll leave it alone. Stock radio has a 7" screen but no GPS or DVD player, so I bought a JHP Austrailian hack kit (they have the Holden Commedore) and converted her screen to play DVD from glovebox player, and rear view camera on her radio. Only had it for two months, so the car is basically stock.

The Nismo is new, still paper plates. Nothing really done to it but in dash Nav/DVD, K&N drop in filters, Bride Racing Seats, and AutoEXE shift knob. Exhaust is ordered from GTM (3" header back no cats) and I'll throw that on just before I get the GTM twin turbo kit. :) Enjoy the pics!!

I just realized the Nismo is the slowest car in the driveway. The wife's car averages a 13.0 in the quarter, Nismo is 13.4 at best.

JP plates on the FD? Cool... :P

You put BRIDE seats in the NISMO already? Do you have pics of that?

LiquidZ 08-15-2009 09:13 PM

Sweet stable!

travisjb 08-16-2009 12:03 AM

Cool cars! How do you like the G8 ? haven't driven one myself but seems like the best performance family car out there for the $!

jekel 08-16-2009 01:13 AM

They look great, always loved the rx7.

ishthemienguy 08-16-2009 01:38 AM

So how do you like the 370z nismo? I'm just curios about it and sexy cars!

Snakebite202 08-18-2009 02:48 PM

Would you like to adpot me? lol Nice cars...that FD is sick.

Phelan - The JDM 99+ front end has a big plate holder, and Alabama doesn't require one, so I got a custom JP plate to match the JDM car :). I got an album for the Bride seats in the 370z, supposedly I'm the first with any Bride seats in a 370 in American, I'm pretty pumped XD.
Nissan 370Z Forum - Equinox's Album: Bride Gias Racing Seats

Travis- The G8 is pretty hilarious. Runs a 13.0 in the quarter, so it's faster than the Nismo, any corvette that comes with pop up head lights, faster than the GTO, Mustang GTs. So my wife will randomly call me when she's driving it and be like -"Uhm.... am I faster than a.........blank" She's ridiculous, and she gets people talking to her at gas pumps and people stareing. She's not used to that. "Wow fast car you got there young lady!"... "Aww man is that the LS3!?", and so on. I taught her how to say, "Yeah it's the LS3, 6.2 Liter V8 from the corvette, and SS Camaro. 415hp." That's about all she knows. lol.

Ish - I love the 370z. My favorite thing about it, is the rear end looks almost just like the Porsche Cayman or 911, I'm not sure which, but I just love how wide this car is, and the fender arches, how much they flare out. It's ridiculous! The rear tires are as wide as my RX-7's (285) and that was always my favorite thing about the RX-7. I was kinda bummed with the fact the Nismo didn't come with Nav, or Leather - so I had to get seats fast. I got the Nav from Kenwood even before that. I'm still miffed at how good the stock Nav looks - and now how I have the world's most useless dash pocket in the middle of my car!

Hauls ***, it's hilarious how easily you can get it up to 130mph, and it's an auto which car & driver rated as faster than the manual due to the shift pattern the computer holds. Great stuff. It's faster than my 370z sadly.

The NISMO I love, the suspension is so track day stiff, and the wide *** tires are fun to fish tail around town. I just didn't like the radio and seats it came with. Nissan sentra NISMO seats if you ask me

When I twin turbo the Nismo I'm gonna sell the RX-7 V8, I'm just gonna drive the RX-7 around until the nismo is done, then get rid of it. I'd rather obsess about one car than have to share my attention on two.

Un dyno'd but the stock motor is 400 hp and 400tq, and this one has headers and full exhaust, and intake. So maybe 400whp, yaknow? Always have a 100hp shot of nitrous, but I don't ever use it.

schrute 10-19-2009 03:24 PM

Wow. What a trio!

Very nice.

thats real nice Equinox. i appreciate the RX7s. Does that car need extra maintenance since its a rotary. i suggested one of my friends get an RX7 and he was considering getting one but then he bailed out on buying one cuz he said the maintenance would be tedious. IMO i think any nice car would need constant maintenance.

It's not a rotary it's an LS2 V8 6.0L from a 2006 Pontiac GTO, never owned a rotary myself.

Awsome cars and great choices. Before I got my G8 GT I had to choose from

G8 - best of both worlds 4door family car but weekend warrior.
370Z - scratched by the old slave driver (wife)
SS camaro - scratched byt the old slave driver (wife)

I have never owned a 350 or 370 but I like the look and love the engine sound.

Mike 10-20-2009 05:11 PM

nice pics!

SHIFT_Z 10-20-2009 05:37 PM

mmm i love those gen3s so much

motoextreme 12-29-2009 11:33 PM

I'm with the rest...nice selection. Have to think its hard to decide what to drive at times.

That RX must be a rocket. I'm curious... Was it a huge project getting that V8 in there? Can't believe it fits, crazy! :icon14:

Equinox 12-30-2009 12:51 PM

hinsonsupercars.com sells kits, not too hard, just bolt in.

from what little info i know on it the swap is just as easy as a s14 chevy swap. quite common without a lot of custom modification. mounts, wires, ecu, driveshaft.

motoextreme 12-30-2009 04:04 PM

Hmmm, who would of guessed. Something for the future if that lotto win comes though :)

Guess I should just focus on my two projects right now, would love a V8 in a little car though, it would be a riot.

EVOR 12-30-2009 08:12 PM

I always want to do a LSX conversoin on my FD. Sure my AD GT RX-7 wide kit can handle that V8 power.
