Haha! I got a few other things going in first. I'm hoping to do the exhaust and short throw this weekend. If it warms up I'll get motivated in a hurry though! Lol

Meulen 02-22-2014 05:43 PM

This is gonna have to be a teaser till I can get out and get some good pics when the snow and salt is gone. But FI exhaust is on! Sounds perfect too. Not to loud, just a perfect sound. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/23/6a3e4y4u.jpg

I'm about to pull the trigger on that same lip. Who did you buy it from and how long did it take to receive it?

I know I can get it from thezstore.com or evoR.net but not sure which way will be quicker. I want it before ZDayZ

I got it from EVO R right here on the forums. It was a group buy and came quick. I think it was just a few weeks. But only a week or so after the group buy closed.

Meulen 03-31-2014 08:17 AM

Man!!! It's was GREAT to be able to drive the Z this weekend!! Really got me motivated to get the rest of this pile of parts I have installed.

Next weekends goal is the brakes!

Zerocool 03-31-2014 08:28 AM

I don't know how comfortable I'll be opening my headlights lol. I mean, I work on cars every day at work but it's mostly electrical and installation of aftermarket systems.

I trade stock for a living! LOL To be fair, I used to work for my dad's auto restoration shop when I was younger. But with all the vids and DIY's here on the forums it's not as bad as it seems:tiphat:

Mr&Mrs 03-31-2014 09:08 AM

With my back problems I have been having I need to look more into trading as an income vs a hobby. I just want to be able to make close to what I do now without much effort. I do ok as a hobby but don't know if I want the stress of using it as our main income.

Feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions. I'm actually an institutional trader. Meaning, I execute large trades on behalf of customers in our mutual funds. I still trade for my own account on the side, but under some pretty strict limitations. My retirement plan is to coach athletes and trade my own account. I've set up my own trading models and am ready to go. To be honest, if I lost my job tomorrow I wouldn't look for another. I'd just make my own living. But it's a nice security blanket getting a paycheck/bonus and benefits. Plus, it's really nice to be around a lot of other smart people to learn from!

Mr&Mrs 03-31-2014 09:30 AM

That's awesome you must be pretty smart yourself with that game plan.

Great job brother:tiphat:

vrfreak 03-31-2014 08:43 PM

hey man just wanted to say good job on the headlights i am in the process of doin mine i was wondering how hard it was to fab the diffusers and if u did anything else to prevent the paint bubbeling issue since u said u took the tint of the lense?

thanks! I'm not going to say it was real easy. You have to cut the outer lip of the diffuser to bring down the gap because the mating surfaces are staggered. I still left a slight gap in my, but it's hard to tell. After you cut the hard part is block sanding it straight so the mating surfaces are even. I was lucky I had some body work experience passed down from my dad for that!

edit* forgot about your bubbling question. :) I tinted the lens but it didn't turn out very good. It was difficult for the painter to get an even coat on curved surface. So I took the tint off. Ultimately, I decided I don't drive the car that much so it's not sitting in the sun every day. I think using the high quality automotive paint was enough. If it bubbles, I'll take them apart again and re-tint those lenses. Then wetsand them till everything is even. I think they'll be ok though

vrfreak 04-01-2014 05:34 PM

mhmm I realy hope ur right my housing has been sanded and primed as well but no hi temp paint so I hope for the best but mine sits like long hours in a parking lot so that could be a turn for the worse damn it!

I'm hearing that doing the diffusers sets back the lens more and helps with keeping the lens from boiling the paint too. I'm also considering replacing my 6k headlights with LED headlight bulbs. It's a little pricey, but would really keep the heat down in there.

Had kind if a crappy day today! Actually a bad weekend. Had a flat tire on my wife's car and a trans sensor go bad on my daily driver. Spent way too much time on that!! I did get time to change my oil, and install my short throw shifter and TWM weighted shift knob. I still need to find a way to tie the leather to the knob better though. I got a bunch of good pics with the DSLR too bit didn't have time to upload yet.

I have to mention the AMS short throw was kind of a mess. No instructions with the product. They assembled it wrong from the factory and I had to take it completely apart to get it working again. That caused all sorts if problems figuring that out during install. Finally got it though and it works great now.

Since it was the end of summer in Chicagoland here, I decided to put the money from the insurance in a CD at 8% and wait to buy another car. Ended up being the best investment I made after the economy crashed! But I held onto the cash for a while. My wife never really loved the vette. It was more my thing. Fast forward to this year. I wanted to get something both my wife and I could agree on. A car we both "loved". We had test drove a 350z back in '03 and really liked it. So I showed her a Z and she liked it. So I searched for something with low miles from 09/10. Then I came across the 40th. I found it on Sunday and raced to the dealership Monday to get it before it was gone. I wheeled and sealed a bit and came up with a good price. My wife liked it more seeing it in person than she did before and so did I. So that Monday,3 weeks ago, we came home with our 40th!
