Removed the black plasti-dip from the fangs: Lasted 2 years! Had about 8 coats though..

http://s28.postimg.org/jxixa4bfh/20131206_193112.jpg

Installation was fairly simple,
1) We test fitted the lip
2) Drilled 2 screws into the far corners where they attach to the wheel well.
3) The left side was flush and perfect, didnt require much heat
4) The front was great and was flush with the fang area, minor heat and application
5) The right was pretty bad and needed some heat and patience. Basically we heated the lip til' it was soft and used a metal ruler with a cork backing and held the cork to the lip and then used a cold/damp rag to let it mold into place.
6) Once the top was flush, we then jacked the car up and went under to attach the 3 support brackets.
7) I used the 3M tape at first, but then once the lip was on, barely any of the lip needed the 3M and it really just was visible thru the cracks, so I removed the 3M tape completely.
8) Done!

Dont mind bucky - (The huge *** bolt on the front) I lost one of the screws for the brackets, and drilled my own. Smallest bolt and nut I had.. Thankfully I painted over it. I will switch it out later!

Next up was sanding the rear bumper. I loved the black FRP material color. But it had imperfections.

I wanted a perfect paint job and didn't want to take any shortcuts.

Went and purchased sanding blocks, respirators, goggles, and a few different grit sand papers...

The lip fit turned out just beautiful ! nicely done.

Some serious work (and beer) from the looks of it too !

Coming together nicely.

Also got my ref shots via Carlito's _ Thanks my friend, so I can see what to adjust for the 2013 series front bumper.

Here is the distance it clears... 5 3/4 - 6 inches of clearance. Plenty...

Oh great! I told you that I wouldn't steer you in the wrong direction -

Now pull the trigger on the front lip! Its Nick & Carlito approved.

If I can fit it, and I know nothing about body work... Its a decent lip.

Hahah wow I appreciate it, but it sounds like you haven't looked at many of the other cars on here. There are some serious rides with owners that have $$ and know how to spend it. I just try to do budget friendly mods for those of us who don't have that sort of cash.

Please post up once you get yours & feel free to ask me any questions

I like that though. Budget friendly, easy, and sometimes subtle mods can make a world of difference in my mind. I prefer the understated look lol. And I'll for sure be posting up when the time comes for me to get mine! lol

Catchin-Z's 12-10-2013 02:12 PM

Nick,

Just watched your video pulling out of the drive way and the (inevitable) lip scrape

I am considering to purchase these: Bridjit Curb Ramps - The "No Jar To Your Car", Curb Ramp Solution!

I have a super steep and high curb drop in front of my garage and already scraping stock height/no aero lip whatsoever.

So if I ever want to get anything installed looks like I have no choice but go this way.

MarlinZ 12-11-2013 07:09 PM

Car looks nice man. Can I ask how the Fitment was on the nismo rep rear? Did you have to put a lot of work into it.

Thank you! I appreciate it.. I have never worked on body parts before. I just really like to do little projects and take on more then I know how to handle. The bumper fitment was decent. I don't really have anything else to compare it to since I haven't received an aftermarket bumper before. I say decent because it didn't just bolt up.

Here is a brief summary of my DIY for the bumper:

1) Remove interior spare tire panels. Remove spare. Remove foam. Remove Plastic.
2) Remove plastic molding near taillights
3) Remove taillights
4) Remove all clips on top of rear bumper. Remove wheel well screws.
5) Remove bottom clip under rear bumper.
6) Remove bumper from car. Remove bumper foam from car.
7) Hold nismo bumper up to the car for test fit.
8) Pull Bottom over the clip for the fog light and itll help hold the bumper on the car without using your hands.
9) Grab heat gun and heat bumper (not a hairdryer) so that it forms to the shape of the car. Make sure not to crack it. (Mine was off by about 6-10 inces)
10) Once the bumper is in the proper shape, grab a drill or dremel and start to make holes for the bumper clips to go into. Also, youll need to drill into the metal on the car. Make sure you have a drill with the proper bits.
11) There is 2 sets of 4 holes that need to be drilled with the proper length and size in order for them to click back into the body of the car.
12) Heat and hold fenders into place so that the body lines match. Grab damp cold towel and place on the bumper to mold and make sure it forms.
13) Once bumper is on, sand out all imperfections with various grits of sandpaper. I used a sanding block not a power tool for this.
14) Fill all small holes from production with bondo or body filler. Let dry and sand those areas out til smooth.
15) Depending on if you are painting factory color or not, youll need to prime the bumper and make sure its ready for proper paint. Plastidip doesnt need to be primed before.

For not knowing anything, I think I did okay. Im sure if i took it to a body shop they would laugh at the minor flaws, but for a daily driver and not spending $1,500 for the OEM one, ill take it.
