LOL, I have all the receipts and labor, give me about a week and I will post.
I am not too mechanical incline so I had someone do the work, also, my age is catching up..

Thought about that...

I did not realize when putting the bottom of the front end back together there were some many bolts, I think I counted 16 to but the front cover under the engine (that's what the parts site said). Funny think in putting it back together, I realized it was not put back together correctly, so it required some rework, but it is all buttoned up

oil line setup

front of car back together and Nismo Headlights

with that all done, took it for a drive on Saturday, felt good to have it back on the road...

danegrey 12-07-2017 05:47 PM

interesting that is all I can say..
I replaced my stock seats replaced with RECARO Sportster CS (love the seats)
My son I were auto crossing in July and the driver seat would not stay locked in position
Finally took it to the shop (yea, it was a long time and no I am not that mechanical incline)
When they took it all apart it turned out to be a clearance problem. Like an 1/8 of inch. Which was causing the seat position to become released. It was the angle and weight. Just very odd Just had to share.....

Funny think, never had problem until that weekend, my sons driving position is different than me.

danegrey 12-18-2017 07:45 PM

Put the seat back in and took it for a spin to make sure that it wouldn't move and it didn't. Was a bit funny, now I have to figure out my seating position again, thou it will be fun.

Had a neighbor say nice car, that all makes you feel good .....

danegrey 12-27-2017 03:55 PM

Well looking at what to do in 2018, and I cannot think about much to do to the Z, it is really 98% of how I want it. New Side skirts would be nice, but they cost a bit,
So I guess it is time to simply drive it and enjoy it...

Happy New Year everyone

carbon-fiber door inserts are now in the doors, but my plans to put them on the car today not going to happen. See in late November I scratched up my rear bumper, backed into another car, just minor stuff, So it went the body shop on Monday, and it is not done yet. Oh well. I am really pleased with the door inserts, look so much better. here is a pic of them installed on the door, next step to get pics in the car...

just finished reading Grassroots Legendary Lineup about the history of the Z, made me remember about the 240z and 260z I had. (Cars I should have not sold)
I have a 2012 Black Cherry, just priced out a similar 2018, and the price has not changed much on it. (2018 Sport Tec). Thou I am sad to see that Black Cherry is no longer offered. (I like the front better on 2009-2012, just my feelings)

I had a good laugh about used 350Z prices starting at 5000, not around here, cheapest I saw was 6995, with 100K miles.

But In the end they said it still was a good car for the value..

Love my Z

Here's the link, if you have not read it already

danegrey 01-16-2018 06:52 PM

Watching the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale Auction
just saw this go for 37K
Lot 172 - 1972 DATSUN 240Z
Restored with 1,100 miles since restoration of original L24 engine, other mechanicals, rubber, trim, bumpers and interior. 4-speed manual transmission. Color matches factory original. Always garaged, never a daily driver.

makes me wonder if I had kept mine, but then again, who knows...

danegrey 01-16-2018 06:55 PM

Oh yea, forgot this and a reason, I will never get rid of my Z,
I had my DD (Genesis Coupe) in for 15000 maintenance at a dealership, also its a big own several dealership. The Z was there last week to get the rear bumper repainted. Talking to the Service person, and mentioned the Z, yea was talking to Wiley (collusion guy) he said it was a real nice car... every reason to love the Z

danegrey 02-01-2018 06:17 PM

took the Z in for service and had a Rogue rental car..
tell you the truth, I keep the Z over that, it had some many gadgets, it made me wonder if any of them failed what it would cost to repair them.

The only thing I wish was that my Z had blue tooth. Guess I need to find out how to get in the car.....

danegrey 02-03-2018 02:37 PM

something interesting my DD is a 2015 Genesis coupe, and have found an interesting articles

https://www.autobytel.com/sports-car...to-buy-131356/

The Z didn't make this group, but the Genesis Coupe did and they compared it to the Z WTH, just amazes me, it is not even close.

Well it is what it is...

I make enough to feed the addiction, and I hope I have finished my mods for now, so the next step is to simply drive it and have fun

axmea? 02-04-2018 12:19 AM

Never liked the idea of asking how much people spend on other's build that's all. Rude in my opinion but that's just me.

I really like the C.F. door inserts btw.

Well finally after 6 months, I have re-installed my door panels with the carbon fiber inserts. I can now use my doors as normal..

Yes, there were several production delays in getting them completed (jan) and I finally had time today to get them installed.

It was well worth the wait..

Everything looks great so far!

danegrey 02-20-2018 06:38 PM

Took the Z into my local performance shop for some new brake fluid for track days and a copy of other little items.

Well the brakes feel great, the shifter had a little problem and they fix that...

The car is now ready for track days

What did you do with your original headlights once you bought the nismo's? I'd like to get the Nismo's but am wondering if there's any shops that I could sell the originals too to offset the cost a bit.

That is a good question, I am going to post here, once I can figure out how to ship them.. And there lies the problem shipping can get expensive..

Also depends how much you ask for them and what shape they are in..
complete / have any web markings / etc...

Nissan Dealership experience with happy ending....
Ok I have a Nissan Gold Maintenance plan, this takes care of oil changes / transmission oil changes / belts / wiper blades / hoses, so it takes care of all maintenance So it has been great.
well everything has limits I had 3 transmission oil change / 3 drive belts changes.
The dealership said I had none left, they gave me the dates and I went home and research my records. So I paid for the work, since it was time for it anyhow. Well the dealership I use to use, had charge me for work never done.

Now the good news, talked to Nissan, only took three calls last one was with a supervisor. Sent them the paperwork, and they said, ok, you should have not have paid for it, we'll send you a refund...

:happydance:

danegrey 03-04-2018 10:10 AM

Just a little note,
I decided to sell my 2015 Genesis Coupe and make the Z my DD.
reasons
1) my motto you bought to drive it, wasn't following it
2) There are other means to take trips rental cars / uber / etc...
3) allows me if I get the option of buying another toy..

It just made sense, thou I have to buy some wheels/tires for winter

I went to Carmax and sold it there, got what I wanted, now do not have the hassle of trying to sell on my own...

that was long to get to this point I saw this for sale
Attachment 127665

made me laugh, only 34K, with I think 14K mileage

danegrey 03-09-2018 01:40 PM

I was looking to see what my Genesis Coupe might be priced at Carmax,
I did an search on the 370z, car makes has 82 coupe and 7 convertibles listed
just found this interesting

anyone want an Focus RS, carmax has 16 of them.....

danegrey 03-18-2018 11:53 AM

really odd, I rented a Ford F150 over the weekend to do some hauling.
Got caught by surprise on the feature that stops the engine and restarts it.
I am NOT a fan of that, found myself giving myself an extra time on entering a street.
Just stops, when at rest after some amount of time...

danegrey 03-25-2018 02:29 PM

Autocross today, I run in STM, because of the mods I have done, does not fit a class. I finished 2.9 seconds back, the top two cars were 92 NSX and 2006 Lotus Elise.
Not bad, considering after all these years I am still learning to drive :icon17:
a bad habit I is my use of my right foot...:icon14:

danegrey 03-30-2018 03:09 PM

Well I have done another fun thing....
I have signed up for mid-ohio performance driving school in May

Acura 3-Day High Performance Course

Well it is actually called Acura 3-Day High Performance Driving School, BUT i will not being driving an Acura,(and there was no option for the NXS) so I get to drive my Z...

I also get to re-visit a course that I drove in the mid-80s when I was driving Formula Ford..
