Motor was supposed to be done yesterday...of course that didn't happen. I called today and they said it would be finished today, but who knows if that is the truth. I sent Nelson Competition an email Monday asking for the specs of my cam/clearances/etc so I can have my car properly tuned, but did not get a reply. I requested for the information today on the phone, but still don't have any answers.

I'm stopping by the powdercoater tomorrow to see how close of a match they can come up with for my calipers. If they can get the color sample right, they will be ready to be picked up Friday or Monday. My interior pieces and embles should be ready to be picked up Friday or Monday. Now the next step is getting Elite Automotive to drive the 2 hours to get my motor...had the motor been ready today, they said they were too busy to pick it up. I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another!

At least the HREs arrived today :)

So.......given the current state of things, you should still be able to make ZDayZ dude. I hope to see you there and witness the masterpiece of beastliness that you are building

98intrigue 05-02-2013 03:41 PM

I received the invoice for my motor today...I BELIEVE that means my motor is completed! It only took a couple days over 5 months from the day my motor blew again.

I received a call from the powdercoater letting me know the custom sample he put together is ready, so I'll check that out tomorrow...hoping it matches SSG!

Also, I received pictures from the painter today:eekdance:

I doubt it :( I'm already getting "I'll do my best" when I ask Elite Auto to have my car ready by next Friday. That means he had 7 business days to pickup my motor and install it...I'm already doubting him.

I'm a fan of the twists, especially the stock 996TT wheels. I have only seen 3 other Vipers with these wheels (none which are recent) and none of them were as low as I am. I think that's key to making these wheels look killer.

That's what people said about my Modulare Forged wheels...I thought they looked a hell of a lot better on the car than off.

If it's ready, are you going to make the airstrip event on thursday?

I was wrong...installer called machine shop because they were going to pick it up today. Motor is still not ******* done! April 19th, April 30th, May 1st, all promises they don't give a **** about. They are obviously playing with me. Elite Auto told me that in the past when he's tried to push Nelson Competition, Nelson just kept putting the job off. I really don't know what else to do...

I almost feel like it is time to pull the motor from them and have another shop finish it.
Go after the shop for damages or have them pay the new shop to finish the work since they seem to be unable to do it themselves.

:iagree: have some one else do it consult your lawyer and tell them the what's going to happen

roplusbee 05-05-2013 02:44 PM

We can go pay them a visit if you want. They may not like the results. But seriously, dude get them to finish that **** so we can run Tail of the Dragon!

Ubetit 05-20-2013 02:27 PM

The motor was completed Tuesday, May 7th. The motor was picked up by the installer Wednesday, May 8th. I asked for an update last Wednesday, May 15th, and I was told "if all goes well, Monday or Tuesday". Well, I hadn't heard from him, so I asked when I should pick up the car. He said "not sure quite yet", which means he hasn't started it. I asked if it will at least be finished by the end of this week and he said he doesn't know (sounds too familiar since the machine shop wouldn't give me a deadline). So the waiting game continues...

Here is the list of all the mods I can think of that I've bought during the 6+ month downtime (motor failed November 30th):
Since it's been so long, this is what my car looked like before:

I can't wait to see how the car will look/feel/sound with all the mods installed...it's almost time to enjoy being a Viper owner!

Mr&Mrs 05-23-2013 04:09 AM

Cant wait to roll out with you soon! Jess has been keeping me updated with facebook during the move. Those calipers made me drool!

gz06 05-24-2013 03:42 PM

How much did it cost to get your calipers powder coated, and are the letters a sticker or did they paint that for you as well?

Heck yeah! Unfortunately, the installer still hasn't given me an update which means he hasn't started it.

I paid just under $400 for the paint. They were at the powdercoater for 2 weeks, which who's have been over $400, but they wouldn't match their powder close enough to the paint. The lettering is vinyl and then he cleared over it.

Zdayz is always on the calendar. It just sucks the past 2 years haven't been possible. I'm going to try to make a surprise visit this week to drop off my wheels/calipers and check on the progress of the install.

Great to see a motor in there and running! Congrats!

98intrigue 06-06-2013 07:12 PM

Thanks, everyone! The car is finished!!! I couldn't pick it up today because I couldn't get a ride..going to pick it up tomorrow at lunch! Obstacle after obstacle kept popping up, but the end result will hopefully be worth it. My clutch slave cylinder failed on Tuesday, so that was another unexpected expense and headache. I'll update tomorrow with pics :)

:icon18:

Serious! Clutch pressure was NEVER an issue and the clutch was replaced during the last build...you would think there would have been a leak then or the 600 miles I drove it last time. Installer said maybe because my car sat for so long that the seal dried up? Who knows...all I know is it cost me an extra $750 that I had out away for my exhaust guy.
