That's some bad luck brother. I hope it's not too bad.
Did you end up trading in your Z to the dealer with those problems? |
Any updates big guy!?!?!? :)

I talked to RSI in Texas about shipping them my car, but my motor is already out. It would cost over $1000 to ship both ways. The only thing that's keeping me from taking my car/motor back is that my motor is being machined by .: Nelson Competition, Inc. - 727.321.5756 :.. They are VERY well known and are local. |
I think many shops have this problem of not meeting deadlines. Will at RSI is very truthful in telling people his shop is on the slow side but he is working to remedy this. I think it all comes down to the first impression the shop gives you and how professional they are. I know Lee has a nasty Viper (which I believe is still the fastest pump gas Viper in the world) but I personally know nothing about his shop.

I see that that shop did Lee Saunders's Viper? Damn, I'd guess yours is in good hands then  |

My motor is at Chris Nelson's shop for the machine work. Both of these guys have had their hands on Lee's Viper. Seeing the reputation of Chris Nelson's shop is what is keeping me grounded while I wait. I just got a text saying "Call me when you get free. Finally talked to Nelson.":ughdance: |

sexy! ( the car) not what happened , hope you get her back ASAP for a speedy recovery:yum: |
Well, the verdict... $6k for a OEM spec motor or $13k for a full on stroker/heads/valve job/cam motor. The thought of a beast of a motor is enticing, but the price tag is not. If I do the OEM spec motor, I can still have money left over to purchase some wheels....or I may just put the car up for sale and look for a GTS.

13k for a beast motor! Really though 6k for an OE Spec, and wheels has to be around 10k right? The stock wheels look good go for the beast!

Damn, already? What's next?

Thinking about getting a brz... I really like em. As for the viper it needs a new fuel pump I believe and it's not a very good daily driver with the bad gas mileage and minimal space lol It was an impulse buy I'm kinda regretting.

What do you guys think of these? 19"/20" Modulare M15 in all black with brand new Nitto Invos. That's a killer price, considering the wheels alone are over $6k. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Viper-...a9e537&vxp=mtr |
Great to hear there has been some progress, even if slow.
Those wheels are sweet big guy. And the sizes.. WOW 20x13r with 345s beefyyy. :eekdance: Quote:

I really like the wheels! But who spends $4k+ on wheels o_O .......... lol

Well, here's a quick little story about my car. I texted Lee Saunders (one of the fastest Vipers in the world...look him up on youtube) once my motor seized. He recommended 2 people: Chris McKee and Chris Nelson. That's who built his motor and many of his other cars.
My car was trailered to Chris McKee on July 30th. At some point, my motor was taken to Chris Nelson .: Nelson Competition, Inc. - 727.321.5756 :.. I was finally given a quote on about 3 weeks ago and the go ahead to do an OEM rebuild was given just over 2 weeks ago....aftermarket rod/main bearings, grinding the crank, APR hardware, all new gaskets, etc. I've been asking for an ETA since I was given the quote, but am still in the dark. I skipped the middle man and called Chris Nelson today, but didn't get a call back yet. Since I decided to do an OEM rebuild and not a full race motor for $14k+ (not including fuel accessores or tuning:eek:), I had a bit extra that I budgeted for. I've had aftermarket wheels on every car I've owned since I turned 16. The Viper will continue the trend:tup: Quote:

Just put an offer on some Belanger headers...lets see if he takes it :)

awesome
|
Woohoo! Finally! Chris Nelson just called me. Heads are complete and assembled. Block has been machined and washed. It pretty much just needs assembly...ETA the motor will be ready by the end of next week.

I set my alarm for 3:30am this morning...and it was a success! I fought off my eyes trying to close for 11 minutes so I could bid on a set of 1.75" equal length Belanger headers. I won!
This will almost be a new car. Hoping to have it finished for October 18th for Festivals of Speed at the Waldorf in Orlando (crosses fingers!). |
Awesome man, congrats!!!
