Got my Z aligned yesterday and drove straight home. Went to go to dinner and the clutch goes straight to the floor and won't come back up unless I pull it up. There was also a nice puddle of brake fluid under the car and the clutch master cylinder is empty.

I've tried adding more fluid so I can at least drive it to the dealer but no luck. Any ideas?

That sounds like a blown slave cylinder. The 370 uses a concentric type that is inside the bell housing of the transmission and incorporates the throw-ot bearing.

Glokwork 09-22-2012 10:15 AM

That was thought initially I know it's a common problem. I don't see any fluid coming from the tranny but it is pouring through the holes on the crossmember.

Tow truck guy came to get it but it was too low he took a look and guessed the master cylinder blew up.

Either way I hope I don't have an issue getting this covered under warranty.

If its the master it's not hard to fix, if it's the slave I believe that one is in the tranny. Not fun.

Glokwork 09-22-2012 03:20 PM

Yes the concentric slave cylinder is located inside the tranny and its a plastic piece of junk. I thought I would notice some symptoms before something just completely fails but I guess you never know.

Should be hearing from the service manager Monday and that guy is a ****....prepared for war!

Huck 09-22-2012 03:31 PM

Hahaha that's what happened on my S10. I went to work just gone, I came back out and my truck wouldn't shift. Had to drive home in 3rd. It was a PITA to fix because the kid that had the truck before me had lowered it a lot without cutting the driveshaft, so it was jammed up pretty good. Took me 4 days to get the whole thing all fixed up and driving again.

I hope you learned from my mistakes and took some pointers from the S&R/JTran/Boosted Performance kits. Good luck!

Hey Ryan I'm definitely going to be cautious with the boost and I'm going to oversee the build as much as I can. S&R is doing my build and I plan to fly down near the end and check it out.

Just an update the car arrived in Tampa friday and is sitting in S&Rs shop right now. Hopefully they tear into her on monday!

Glokwork 10-23-2012 06:50 PM

Very frustrating turbo build so far! No one has called me, returned my calls/emails...I have no idea what the progress is or ETA. I still have to book a flight and take time off work and school.

Managed to dig a pic from facebook so at least I know my car is there.

98intrigue 10-23-2012 07:04 PM

I'm sorry to hear that. I've heard that from a few people recently...wonder what's up?

kellyefields 10-23-2012 07:18 PM

talked to Joe today and He said he picked up his supercharger yesterday and saw it there. looked as if they were tearing it apart from the looks of it if I understood him correctly.

Nut_N_Much 10-23-2012 07:42 PM

Hey brother,
Went yesterday and looked at you car. They have it all torn apart like you said. Bobby said you asked for some custom stuff. Its taking time to build it, he didn't say what it was that was custom. What did you order with the kit? The good thing is there wasn't a lot of cars in the shop, so they will have time to work on it.

While I was there they were tuning a 350Z HR with a single turbo set up. If I remember correctly 6 ponds of boost. 368 Torq/420 HP. They ran it with 8 and got 398 ftlbs tq and 460hp.

Thats a nice set up, I just wish they had a mandrel bender with dies to handle up to 3.5 tubing, it would look way more cleaner... Don't know what yours is looking like yet, still taking shape..

I'll be back down there next week scavenging for hardware so I'll check in on it, Its also not to far out of the way going home....:tiphat:

Glokwork 10-23-2012 11:04 PM

Hey Joe I appreciate you checking up on it for me! I'm not sure what the hell he is talking about to be honest. I sourced the boost controller, wideband afr, cubby gauge mount, bov, and wastegate which I had it all shipped to them. The only custom work is the hot/cold piping which has to be fabricated.

I know they are still getting settled in at Vortex but when you give them several thousand dollars you should actually feel like an important customer. I can't even get them to email me an updated invoice since my last big payment.

I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt being slammed and getting the move straightened out. It's been 3 weeks since I've handed over a large amount of money and they haven't picked up the phone once and called me since then.

I also am torn what color I should do on the cold side piping. Any suggestions anyone? Everything else on the car is already black

Nut_N_Much 10-24-2012 12:58 PM

Ya I see what you mean. You would think a forum customer would be more of a priority. We all write up or builds a promote when we have good experience. Sorry your getting jerked around. 3 weeks rates an explanation for sure.

Glokwork 10-24-2012 11:31 PM

I agree with you buddy. I really was looking forward to providing a helpful build thread, but it's kinda pointless if I have no updates or pics.

Bobby did call me today and said the hot side is done. Gauges and boost controller go in thurs and hot side goes out to be ceramic coated. They are designing a new front crash bar to work with the intercooler also.

Mr&Mrs 10-24-2012 11:33 PM

Well at least you heard some progress thats good.

Nut_N_Much 10-25-2012 05:31 PM

:iagree:
Glad you got some feed back!!

Just think how much money you could make using today's social media at a Performance shop like that..

All a shop would need is one dude, taking pics and posting updates at the end of the day. Example: A long weekend is coming and your worried about your car. You are about to call the shop and bammm, an update hits your phone with a video bite showing the work they've:tup: done.

You would get business from all over the country just for having that type customer service.. Man I'm opening a shop:excited:!

It's funny...we all WANT these things from a shop, yet very few excute it. I know there's a Viper tuner that is doing this. It's a fantastic idea! Something that could take 30 minutes or less to do will go wonders with the way social media is, but every shop I've ever dealt with fails meeting multiple deadlines.

Glokwork 10-28-2012 10:36 PM

That's such a great idea and for the amount we pay, we should be getting that service!

Bobby did text me yesterday and said 'Tuesday or Wednesday you will witness the most amazing thing ever! However I can't tell you until Tuesday.'

Hurry up Tuesday!

MIGHTYMOUSE 10-28-2012 10:59 PM

Yea I passed by S&R today and they wouldn't let me see your car it's all top secret in the back of the warehouse

sfearl1 10-28-2012 11:03 PM

These guys do an insane job of keeping up with their facebook updates... If I were in the area I'd take my car here.

Been getting lots of calls and texts from Bobby lately. I should've been trying to go through him from the get go. His communication skills are great.

I found out the big surprise and I'm very excited for it. I can't say yet, but will be making thread for my build in the next day or two. Looking like I might be flying down on the 8th to finally get my boost!

Mr&Mrs 10-30-2012 05:28 PM

Man I hope my car is back together by then! Dont forget to give me exact dates so we can try and meet up.

I will definitely let you fellas know as soon as I find out! Whenever I do fly down it will be a thursday with about a 5pm arrival time. I want to test everything out thoroughly before I set off for home. I plan to stay thurs night and test fri morning then leave for home.

Unfortunately I'm already past the point of being broke and this isn't paid in full yet. Oh well its been a dream of mine and it will be worth it!

Glokwork 11-01-2012 03:52 PM

More delays on the build...won't be picking it up as expected on the 8th. Hoping for the 15th at best now and I have yet to see a single pic since my car arrived there.

Need some suggestions on where I can acquire a good radar detector (passport 9500, v1 etc) for a reasonable price. I was hoping to get lucky and find a local friend that would let me borrow one for my return trip once the car is done. Unfortunately in VA these are illegal and not for sale, some sites won't even ship them here.

Any ideas?!

eBay is probably your best bet.
Can find used ones for a good price, only downside is the firmware might be old but will not hinder the overall performance.
