What type of set up are they doing? In your pictures I see airlift bags in the background by the valves. They building you an exposed cantilever set up in the rear?

I used to be big into air suspension set ups (not on cars, but on mini trucks..hence the username)

Yes, it is. But I do have a Jeep Wrangler to fall back on for days that I don't want to drive it.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've let the body shop that is installing it have full reign of my car for this project but I'll give them a call and I'm sure I can get an answer for you.

Gonna be a great project! Looking forward to the outcome. Driving on bags everyday should be very interesting.

Just thought about some things since you said you use this sometimes as a daily driver...

-Need to make sure they are putting a water separator (aka water trap) in the system to keep the valves from getting frozen. Also should have them put a half a bottle of air brake anti-freeze in the tank so you can avoid valve freezing issues during the winter months.

-Also want to have them put in-line check valves so that if you lose an airline/bag etc. you will maintain you're current ride height. Valves require back pressure to stay closed, if you lose one line you would lose ALL air in you're system causing you're entire car to lay out.

-Are they wiring you to have FBSS? (Front,Back,Side to Side) I see eight valves (4 fills, 4 dumps) so you will have that capability. What type of switch box?

As far as coil overs -- you're bags are going to replace them. Usually they will fab up some shock brackets for some "normal shocks" to damper the bounciness.

Sorry for all the advice, I see air ride systems and I get excited. :) Drag it

No problem....thanks for the info! The answers I can def give at the moment for sure are:

Yes to FBSS and the switch box can be seen here:

e-Level Controller w/ Touchpad

All the other stuff I am going to copy and paste to the body shop tomorrow and then give them a call to verify if these things are going to happen (I can honestly say they've never mentioned any of this) and see where we go from there. ;)

I just got a little bit of bad news......they need until Tuesday at the latest to finish the car. The front lip is on and the rear wing is on. The air ride suspension is installed and working, however they haven't had a chance to test drive the car and they don't feel safe delivering the car back to me without doing that (making sure there are no leaks, problems, etc) so I can't really be too disappointed.

Once the suspension is all checked out, they just need to finish up the trunk area (fiberglass enclosure for the sub) and it should be good to go.

I think I'll take a ride down to the body shop this evening and snap some more photos, tho.

Tony, how about combining your photoshop thread and your car journal.

Get one of your faces painted onto the hood of your car!

:icon17: Do I dare admit that I've considered this? :bowrofl:

daisuke149 11-19-2010 01:17 PM

get a new bumper. that has the front middle part solid, with vents on the sides of it. that way you can put your face on that spot.. with your "hair" flowing up and down the sides of the car.

that would be like the scariest thing in the world.
