Took her out on our first autocross. Had a great time, but didn't get to run through the whole day.

Ran the course in 65 seconds my first run, and had that chopped down to 51 by my 3rd. I was very much limited by my front tires (base 225's), and it affected my braking and turning substantially.

I had one of the experienced guys co-drive with me. His three runs in the were all 50-55, which made me feel pretty good about the 51. I'm confident I could have been well into the 40's if I just had decent tires. Hopefully I can pick out some rims that I like so I can move into that.

Also, some dude in an s2000 lost it in a ditch. Pretty brutal, but the car came out OK, and he tried to run again :rofl2:

Sounds like fun, I need to try it one day.

Red__Zed 07-09-2011 05:32 PM

It's a lot of fun. I do recommend some beefier rubber up front first though.

Going to get some beefier all seasons up front soon :icon17:

Probably going with 245's up front and 265/275 in the rear later. Need to accumulate some money with my next few checks before I get tires. Steve told me my alignment might be out of spec, so I might need to get that done too. If I get wider tires in the rear later, will I need to get another alignment done then? I was thinking about getting it done when I get front tires, but if I need to get it aligned again after the rears I will just wait.

You shouldn't need an alignment after just changing tires.

Also, make sure to hit me up when you get an alignment. My friend will take care of it for a lot less than a shop charges, and custom tailor it to how you drive.

Cool, I will probably do it after I get the tires and I'll let you know. So you should probably tell him what I need because I will be asking you anyway :bowrofl:

Red__Zed 07-10-2011 06:44 AM

Also had some issues fitting in the car with a helmet on. I wasn't able to get anything that even came close to comfortable. How do you tall guys guys drive with a helmet?

SPOHN 07-10-2011 10:27 AM

Good thing I'm short. You always can buy some seats with a low mount or go even lower with a custom setup that's mounted to the floor. Plus being lower helps with driver input and overall feel of the car as I'm told.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid having to do that. I like my stock seats, and I daily drive my car when I'm in Alabama.

I literally am up on the headliner without the helmet on though:shakes head:

b1adesofcha0s 07-10-2011 11:15 AM

Get surgery to make you shorter :rofl2:

b1adesofcha0s 07-10-2011 12:17 PM

Not the internship, I'm working at my uncle's gas station. I've been working here on Sundays for like 2 years. Watching the British Grand Prix on tv right now.

Red__Zed 08-07-2011 07:31 PM

Red__Zed 08-07-2011 07:41 PM

Red__Zed 08-08-2011 07:07 PM

actual reason for purchase-- scraped front bumper on a speed bump. This looks better than touch up paint.

:bowrofl:

I probably won't get one until I get a new bumper.

Red__Zed 08-08-2011 08:59 PM

why the wait?

Going to get a new bumper eventually and I have other damage on my bumper too, which can't be covered by a splitter. :p

Another reason is money. My modding is pretty much on hold until I start working full time. Only mod I might get until then would be G3's. Trying to save for a trip to Pakistan next summer.

Rear Wheels (Sport Package) + Stock Bridgestone RE050A (275/35/19): 56.8lbs (25.76kg)

Looks like weight with packing material on my new rims is
F: 48.1lbs
R:51.1

They are half an inch wider, and have t1r's in 255/295 on them.

Winning.

Pics on Saturday when they arrive.

When will you have them installed?

Red__Zed 08-09-2011 12:53 PM

If they arrive early, I will throw them on that when they get in. If not, they will go on Sunday after my wife leaves
