That's an odd looking development. Looks like it was built years ago but only one house ever got built off it.

Just buy the 55 acre property to the west and we'll rent some earth moving equipment and build you a race track. Paving is going to be expensive though.

RCZ 02-05-2011 08:48 AM

Might as well move closer to this one!

Sounds like I have at least one investor! I've got the real estate agent taking a look

Sweet! I'll be close enough for the odd 3-day weekend trip!

All, just posted today's vid here http://www.the370z.com/track-autocro...tml#post928679

Inching ever closer to the elusive 104 target... tomorrow will shoot for a 1:07.5... Would need FI to fully close the gap - there's no question I am approaching the limit of what this car can give with stock powertrain... car is now 3,150 roughly with driver and half full gas

travisjb 02-06-2011 07:24 AM

Now that I have my setup issue largely worked out... and ABS is back (had a sensor that was dislodged)! the F3R pads feel much better... and going through all that I think made me a better driver- more sensitive to the thresholds of braking on this car. I still think that for an extremely short track like FIR East where there is a lot of intense braking with brake zone bumps etc, having a pad with better feel would help... but at PIR and Chuckwalla, the F3R is proving to be very effective... just thought I'd drop that quick note... off to the track! :)

Looking forward to that Mike! Mind dropping a few links here for the clubs that run in Florida at the southeast more generally? I need to start doing some research... any events coming up in March I should know about? Thanks!

travisjb 02-06-2011 10:15 PM

just mapped out track positions vs new home base... doesn't seem unreasonable!

http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/u...jb/florida.png

the one in the north is jennings... appears to be motorbike only, but I wonder if that will change? looks like a decent course layout... not sure how wide the track is though

NewYorkJon34 02-06-2011 10:45 PM

If your ever in Naples/ft.myers then hit me up bro. We'll have a lil car meet.

travisjb 02-06-2011 11:32 PM

^ will do thanks Jon!

travisjb 02-06-2011 11:51 PM

by the way, here's a look at the Z as of today... ditched the headlights! haha

http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6220732_n.jpg

using the same acrylic headlight covers you've probably seen on ebay/amazon

also added a gurney flap to rear wing, reversed the direction of the wing end plates, and corner balanced the car for this event... weight is somewhere around 3,150 with me in it and half tank of fuel

ChrisSlicks 02-07-2011 07:15 AM

Car is looking great Travis and looked very stable on track as well.

m4a1mustang 02-07-2011 07:17 AM

Looking good!

Equinox 02-07-2011 07:30 AM

if I saw that on the street I would laugh at first sight from 100 yards, then when I saw it close, I wouldn't make eye contact from fear. "Guess I'll take the long way to Sonic today"

RCZ 02-07-2011 08:55 AM

Meanest looking Z on the forum hands down. Very nice man, I hope you come down soon so I can check it out!

where are you going to be settling?

Jennings has or at least had some issues with retaining walls right in the runoff areas. didn't look too safe.

I run with
Asphalt Ventures
Triangle Z Club/Tarheel Sports Car Club
MVP Tracktime
BMWCCA
PCA

we also have Chin and Nasa and a couple other organizations.

RCZ 02-07-2011 10:37 AM

Don't forget Hooked on Driving also runs at a bunch of these tracks...

Endgame 02-07-2011 11:41 PM

So why are you leaving AZ???

travisjb 02-07-2011 11:42 PM

Work... I don't get into work stuff on-line... if you're curious, drop a PM

Some updates...

Re move to Florida, I think we've narrowed down our next house options and unfortunately won't be buying the race track neighborhood! lol I did start an official Florida thread on this site, however, so please join and contribute if you're in that part of the US http://www.the370z.com/south-east-re...da-thread.html

Did some internet shopping today... bought the stuff below... I'm excited about the tow hook - will save 1.5 pounds on the nose! lol

1 LAR-78295 Digital Caster Camber Gauge w/Dunlop style adapter $251.15
1 LAR-22589 Longacre Coil-Over Wrench (Billet) $37.50
1 LAR-79500 Longacre Toe Plates (Set) Includes (2) Tapes $57.95
1 RPW-2606 Master Switch Decal $2.00
1 RPW-TIE15ORANGE Tie Wraps - 15" Orange Tie Wraps $8.99
1 RPW-TIE4ORANGE Tie Wraps - 4" Orange Tie Wraps $4.99
1 RPW-TIE8ORANGE Tie Wraps - 8" Orange Tie Wraps $6.99
1 SFQ-TRF Tow Ring Fixed 8.25" long $16.50

I'm also thinking about ditching the OEM winshield for SpeedGlass branded Lexan windshield... thoughts on that? which thickness should I order?

Quote:

SpeedGlass is G.E. LEXAN with a propietary coating that is applied to both sides of the window after it has been molded. This coating provides a very thin outer "sheel" that is virtually as hard as glass. Underneath the coating "shell" is "HO"(High Optics) LEXAN polycarbonate, which is very soft and somewhat flexible.

* SpeedGlass is 50% - 75% lighter than glass (depending on thickness) 1/2" the weight per equal thickness
* SpeedGlass is extremely shatterproof
* SpeedGlass has excellent optical clarity
* SpeedGlass windshields and windows are coated on both sides with a very scratch resistant coating
* SpeedGlass windshields and windows are formed to factory curvature of steel bodies
* SpeedGlass windows are approximately 1" oversized in all directions, bigger than factory glass windows

Other Cool Facts
* Highly scratch and Chemical Resistant
* High resistance to pitting or sand blast effect
* Can be cleaned with standard glass cleaner, no extra polishes or cleaners needed
* Excellent water shedding capabilities

Three different variations to suit almost any budget
* Formed SpeedGlass (Best Seller)
* Flat SpeedGlass
* Flat Lexan (Low Cost Alternative to SpeedGlass)

RCZ 02-14-2011 02:13 PM

if its legal for your race class, get rid of all the glass....its heavy and high up in the center of gravity.

ChrisSlicks 02-14-2011 03:59 PM

Travis, what stops that toe hook/strap from flapping about?

travisjb 02-14-2011 05:10 PM

Chris, nothing... suppose you could put a cheap zip tie on it that would break free when emergency tow situation arises

travisjb 02-14-2011 05:11 PM

Hey all, quick favor to ask... can someone please measure the height of windshield top to bottom in the middle of windshield? I need to send to speedglass and my car is not with me... THANKS!

Top of glass, but not including upper moulding, and to bottom of glass, but not including lower plastic valance that runs along the glass for cosmetics and wiper penetrations = 29 inches clear glass.

Mike 02-14-2011 05:59 PM

29.5"

travisjb 02-14-2011 06:13 PM

Thanks both!

Boo Airforce. That is all

travisjb 02-19-2011 11:34 PM

Looking for input on a couple things...

1. new employer will provide a leased vehicle - whatever I want... could use it to replace the 2006 f250 with new HD Denali or whatever... or get a fun car - maybe M3 convertible or something like that... any ideas? let me hear what you think!

2. new house may be very close to new employer... in which case I may want to get an electric moped or the like so I can zip over to work quickly... what would you get for a 5 mile trip using sidewalks? how about if it were a 10 mile trip using roads?

Thanks!

Equinox 02-20-2011 12:51 AM

Honda CR-Z. <3

lol.

Don't replace the tow truck, because you may end up putting too many miles on it towing your car to tracks on off days, and that is somewhat of a misuse of a company vehicle.
For fun car, BMW is kinda a tool car right now if you are asking me, try something different like an AUDI RS or S model. Audi S5 perhaps?
http://models.audiusa.com/s5-coupe

Sidewalks and roads you could get a Honda Ruckus, goofy little bikes that are huge in the import scene to modify. PasswordJDM carries crap loads of carbon fiber for the Ruckus enthusiast. Not my taste however.

tt-RS, the engine sounds amazing. Maybe if its in budget a p-car? Or the opposite end of the spectrum a luxurious fast car? Jag XF/XF-R however much one of those runs. Amg sedan. All fun practical cars.

wife drives an ISF, so not sure an AMG sedan or jag adds much... have been thinking about porsche, maybe a cayman... will ponder on that a bit

Good input!! Keep em coming
