Ok so a lot of sh!t has gone down with this car since i last updated the thread.
In order of occurence: 1. Went to get timing belt job done. Motor was compression tested again. Numbers were about 145-155 in all cylinders except number 6, which had 100psi, and had oil in it. The car still pulled hard but instead of spending the money on a timing belt job/120k svc on an old 140k motor, i figured it was better to just cut my losses and (blah blah blah, lots of anger and frustration) get a rebuilt motor. I decided to ship the car to Ztuner in Sarasota Florida. He is one of the best Builders/tuners for the z32 in the country and i felt really comfortable working with him. So what originally was just supposed to be a buy and drive (After a little maintenance) car, was now turning into a full build, with lots of upgrades because... as long as i was getting a built motor, theres about 10000 other things to get 'as long as you're at it' Almost everything OEM in terms of hoses and anything that would wear is getting replaced so i wont bother listing all the oem parts that are getting replaced since no one cares. As far as upgrades are concerned. Built longblock with Weisco pistons. (stock rods and crank are forged in the 300zx twin turbo) Jim Wolf 530BB turbos (ceramic coated) Mike Smith Cast manifolds (Ceramic coated) Stainless steel turbo oil lines Nismo 740cc Injectors 3" Super split downpipes 3"-2.5" resonated test pipes (keeping my 2.5" specialty Z exhaust) RPS Max Street clutch Blitz SBC ID2 (dual solenoid Boost controler USP Underdrive Pully+belts Greddy Side Mount intercoolers http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1305260138 As of now. The motor is done. The turbos and manifolds are getting coated, and next week the engine is coming out of my car and things start getting put back together. The car should be done in the begining of june. Based the upgrades i'm going with the car will make 450whp with similar torque numbers at 18psi on 93 octane. Also getting the engine dressed up a little. Plenum is getting powder coated flat black and the valve colvers red. another customer is getting the same scheme, so this is some quick shots. this motor doesn't have the upper plenum installed obviously (this is NOT my motor, just the same color scheme) http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1305259855 http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1305259861 |
It's gonna be something else when you're done...headaches and frustration now, but likely much better than you originally thought in the end!

Beautiful car! My car has been down for a month since the accident mainly due to waiting for headlights to come back from getting modded. So I've been driving my dad's '90 Z32-TT. The engine has been swapped twice. The first one was a great engine, but was destroyed from running without any oil (mechanic fail at the dealer). The hardware is stock other than the exhaust and basic JWT flash and intake.
Do you notice the difference with the throttle response? Man, the car really moves when you give it gas. That's something I miss in the 370Z, and will hopefully resolve it with a TT kit and tune. |
Is it finished yet? I'm looking forward to driving it back from FL with you this summer... gonna be a blast! :excited:

But yea its amazing what these cars can get with just an intake and a tune. I would have been happy with just that, but obviously, given the circumstances i had to make a choice between selling the car and doing a huge build' Quote:

Wow this is um, sad, but then wonderful. Sorry to hear the issues, thanx for letting me know about this, you couldve text me. I guess you ended up putting more money then you thought, but now itll truly last forever. HAha now it may be that time for wheels.

Just ordered wheels :)
17x9.5 +38mm Enkei RPF1's with 275/40/17 Nitto NT-05's for all 4 corners. the wheels weigh 16.5lbs each, should be fun. This is how the car will look once its finished (the old owner used to have rpf1's on there so i found some old pics, also before there was any dings or body issues which i will have repaired once the car is back): http://www.photodump.org/stored15/Hoboken6.jpg http://www.photodump.org/stored15/Hoboken7.jpg http://www.photodump.org/stored15/hoboken18.JPG http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1311969509 |

Compared the weight to a base 18" (i think it was a front) with a dunlop sp wintersport m3 and that weight 49.8. These things are light! |
very nice!

I love RPF01s, one of the best looking and lightest wheels for the money ever made. Can't wait to see them on the Z32! :)

I think i should make that power around 18psi, But I'm not sure exactly yet. My base boost (boost controller off) is set at 15psi, then on 93 i can go all the way up to 20psi safely with this motor before needing race gas. Quote:
