2010 Pearl White Nissan 370Z - Spring Detail (2011) PIC HEAVY

Hi gang... It's been winter here in Iowa and can't really get into the "detailing mood". But spring is right around the corner, so I finally got around to getting Zena ready for the road. I'm activating her this week for insurance, so she's ready to rock.

So my tale started 3 weeks ago. I worked on it mostly after work, and an hour or two a night when I can. It's either been too cold, or am too busy with my wife and son, so my time is limited... I did a panel or so a night, total time investment, about 8-10 hours I reckon. All done in the comfort and warmth (somewhat) of my garage with the aid of my trusty halogen tower lights.

I must say, it's my first time working with a white color (all previous 5 were black), more so an intensely flaked one. The color is just spectacular, esp after the jeweling stage. It was blinding in the sunlight!

- Washed with ONR
- Clayed with Pinnacle clay bar and ONR as clay lube
- Menzerna SIP - orange CCS pad - via Flex 3401
- Menzerna Top Inspection after every panel
- Menzerna PO85RD - gray CCS pad - via Flex 3401
- Menzerna Top Inspection after every panel
- CG EZ Creme Glaze - blue CCS pad - via PC
- CG JetSeal 109 - red CCS pad - via PC (2 coats, 8 hours apart)
- Pinnacle Sig Series II via foam applicator by hand
- Wheels sealed with OCW
- Tires dressed with PB Bold n Bright
- Take pictures via Nikon D60 in sunlight!!!
- Stand back and admire 3 weeks of work! ohhh my back

Onto the pics... sorry, but I don't have any before pics... it was tough to capture the swirls and rids on camera (since white), nor was I motivated enough... lol... And to think that I have TWO MORE cars to do... our daily drivers, a black 2002 Civic and a black 2009 Honda Odyssey.

Maybe the flakes in your paint will be the last that we all see 'til next year.
Looks good.

Yeah, I'm hoping I don't see any more "snow" flakes till at least December... hehe...

Great work keeping her clean! Nice choices of products, 85rd is my favorite finishing polish both on random orbitals and my Makita rotary. I wish I could use it on my Z but I have found PG has the case of sticky paint as it instantly causes all my Menzerna polishes to gum up and dry up so I'm jealous PW is easier to work with!

Thanks christian. I am not so sure that PW is that much easier to work with than PG. I did notice that after Menz SIP, it's a bit tougher to wipe off. But I figured that if I used ample pad conditioner spray and got the pad primed good, it removed a little easier. Give it another shot...

Where in Iowa do you? I am in Omaha, NE and they are saying chance of significant snow this week. Not looking forward to it. My Z has been in the garage under cover for too many months now!

Am in Eastern Iowa... just flurries and rain today and tomorrow. But latter week should be sunny upper 40's. I'm ready to rock! Insurance gets activated mid week... wooohooo:icon18:

Yeah, I've tried over priming, under priming, low rpms, high rpms, there are only a few polish/pad combinations that have worked without gumming and a random orbital is a must! Oh well, I have experienced this when polishing certain Porsches and Subarus which are both notorious for 'sticky' paint.

Sorry for the thread jack, you definitely did your PW Z justice. :tiphat:

Yeah it's the first time using JetSeal for me. Always been a Menz Powerlock or Wolfgand DGPS kindda guy... read a lot of good things on CG Jetseal, and I tried it, and it's actually easier to use IMO. Easier on, easier off... plus it's uper duper slick. Slicker than DGPS even!!! Lookswise, comparable. I don't really care about durability, since I wax/detail pretty often.

Thanks Dan... you sound like some buddies of mine who think I'm nuts spending more than 1 hour detailing a car... lol...
