I've been in both on the race track and while the GT-R is absolutely mind blowingly fast, the M3 is the drivers car of the two. If money was no object, I would buy both, but somehow I see myself driving the M more often. I honestly don't mind going slower and having more fun...

...and here I thought I was getting old! j/k - like I originally said it's your ride, just be sure to really weigh all options, theres a lot of sweet options out there if your not brand loyal or a speed head like me. I have never driven a car that makes me so excited eveytime I press the "real" GT-R start button. I would disagree in drivability of the M3 being superior to the GT-R, as I have driven both extensively. I work for a dealership, there's not much out there I haven't driven. Chances are if I haven't driven it, I know I'm not missing anything...

Best of luck to you!

My point was that to really enjoy the gtr I would need a 6spd 5.0/Corvette/M3/z/etc as well to get my rowing fix. ;)

I understand the bucket list, mines empty now that I have the GT-R and Alpha mods making my car an unbelieveable experience every time I drive it. The G force and raw excelleration is unexplainable. It's simply crazy...

Not to mention the beautiful interior and technology the car offers. There's not a day that goes by when I drive it that someone isn't taking pics or videos of it while I'm driving. (I'm honestly surprised how many people even know what it is)

Hope to see you join the GT-R club one day.

Merry Christmas

Saw a GT-R humiliate a Ferrari yesterday. :p

I imagine I'll be making the jump in 2-3 years as it's the logical next step for me.

Billy02987 12-25-2011 10:18 AM

I was very happy to make the jump. I was skeptical at first that I would miss a traditional manual gear box but after ten minutes of driving you get over it quick! The M3 is an amazing car too, I've never driven one but I never hear owners complain. Always loved the sound of the V8 too. One of my favorite things about the GT-R though is that it's unmistakeable. Last weekend I did a photo shoot with a SL65 AMG Black Series which was 1 of 350 made in the world, another amazing car but most of the people I showed the photos to thought it was just another Benz instead of a $250,000 twin turbo V12 monster.

Lol you guys... ugh. Maybe next years Christmas bonus will be a little bigger and I will pick one up.

GT-R is the coolest car on the road today. One only has to watch people's reaction to one on the street.

To each his own I guess. Car people instantly recognize and appreciate but some others don't really get what it is... or care. I think from certain angles it blends in... from others its really sick. But in general it doesn't look very dramatic... not as eye catching as a Viper, 458 etc.

I just saw a black on black R8 at the gas station. That's definitely on my bucket list.

I agree. It is a good car. I've driven one that was traded in for an R8 and it was kind of a rattle trap. The car doesn't create a visual draw either. Plus real car guys understand that the car does all the work. You don't have to have driving talent to push the limits.
No knock though, it is an impressive car the GTR. I would not own one though.

My options are definitely open. I've wanted an M3 since the E36 was out there and it's a bucket list car for me. So is a TT car though, so I'll get there. My original plan after the Z was to get a GT-R. I was bent on it, but now I'm looking at a new apartment and thats obviously taking precedence. The other thing is that I've had a really really bad experience with Nissan. I absolutely hate my dealership and my Z gave me problems that it should not have...only because Nissan cut so many corners with it.

I'll keep my eyes open though, who knows. Its either a NEW M3 or a USED GT-R. I don't have too many other options that compare around that price range. C63? Rather the M. S4/5, no thanks. IS-F, no thanks. 911? Maintenance fears. Cayman? underpowered. 1M? No dual clutch. Mustang? No offense, but while it has gotten a LOT better than before, I still just don't see myself in one.

A Dodge Viper is in my future...
