My wife's PW Base 7AT

Just sharing some pictures of our newest purchase. Only mods done so far are tinted tails. Blacked out headlights with landing strip LED's coming soon, along with some form of intake setup.

We're still trying to decide on the wheel color - my wife really likes the stock base wheels over pretty much anything aftermarket. The color will probably be pretty extreme - candy purple, candy blue, or some chameleon color.

CF accents to come. Maybe a color-matched FRP lip kit as well, who knows?

That is a really nice looking car for the wife. I need to get my wife one!!

tweba09 07-09-2010 10:33 AM

It is my wife who actually DD's our Z also and it is PW like yours except hers has the sports/touring package. I get to mod it and drive it on the weekends. :)

WarmAndSCSI 07-22-2010 12:18 PM

Thanks guys. She absolutely loves the car... unfortunately for me, she gets to drive it most the time :(

We did our first oil change on the Z with Castrol 0W-30 (German Castrol). Why doesn't the engine under cover have an access port for changing oil? Even my Evo takeout box has that. lol

Only mods so far are tinted tails, with the clear parts and sides tinted darker than the rest; and a mad tyte JDM Fairlady Z emblem (thanks to Riverside Infiniti for getting that to us very quick!).

You can kind of see both mods here (excuse the crappy BlackBerry pics):

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...ttt/370Z/1.jpg

Today we might pick up some K&N drop-ins. I'm kind of sad that a stock 370Z 7AT can't manage to get sideways from a dig up at 5000 feet :( Gotta do something about that. It does chirp into 2nd though! Pretty nice for a slushbox.

m4a1mustang 07-22-2010 01:07 PM

It does have an access "flap" on the bottom cover. If you unscrew the four bolts at the back you can fold the tray down for access to the drain plug and filter.

tweba09 07-23-2010 06:03 AM

I am not sure about the base but with the sport package you get paddle shifters on the 7at and there is definitely no lack of power! =). I am not at 5000 feet though.....

KcL@AOI 07-23-2010 08:27 AM

PW ftw!

WarmAndSCSI 08-20-2010 04:03 AM

A few new shots and the start of a long journey to a jaw-dropping engine bay.

Like what you did to the strut bar. Nice color combo

Jeffblue 08-20-2010 06:42 AM

if Mace Windu had a 370z, that is how he would paint his engine bay. looks nice

WarmAndSCSI 08-21-2010 11:06 AM

Thanks guys. Next engine bay mods to come are some intake pipes (might be custom, but probably just silicone tubes for now) and purple titanium dress-up bolts. My friend who does my powder coating is also getting a custom sheetmetal engine cover mocked up right now. Should turn out pretty sweet!

I should have some new pictures of the re-finished wheels on the car here soon. They may or may not be the same color as the engine bay accents. ;) I love being able to go super-extreme on a car and just dismissing any haters with the fact that it's my wife's car.

tranceformer 08-21-2010 11:09 AM

Thanks for the pics, I'm considering swapping out to a set of lightweight 18's. Not sure if I'm sold on the look, although a drop and a good offset can probably make it work. hmmmm.....

I think 18's are the perfect cost-effective option for the 370Z. Though any given new sporty car can rock tasteful 20's and look good, I remember when 18's used to be considered huge on a mid-size sedan or sports coupe.

I like to drag race, so 20's are out of the question.

I've got Sport Package wheels, which should be about 22lb each. And I can't justify buying a $3k set of 19's (the only ones that would be 20lb or less). So 18's are what I might end up with.

and yes, i do remember the days when 17's and 18's were "BIG". :icon17:

The 370z paddle shifter response is light years away from the 350z "manumatic"

WarmAndSCSI 08-21-2010 01:27 PM

Illusion Violet coated base wheels are on and dayam they look nice... especially in the sun. Need to get some nice photos once my wife is off work, my BlackBerry won't do the color justice.

theDreamer 08-21-2010 01:32 PM

In for pictures of the wheels.

WarmAndSCSI 08-21-2010 06:25 PM

I'd be proud to. This is my Evo when I was rocking some lime green SSR's last fall:

Indeed. My wife chose the color and it turned out well. I'm pretty happy with it. It looks absolutely bad *** rolling.

Thank you sir :tiphat:

I'm trying to decide between doing some custom intake tubes with some spare aluminum tubing and black couplers, or just getting some HPS silicone tubes in black. Those stock tubes have to go, but I'm not really interested in paying $500 for an intake that really doesn't do much.

m4a1mustang 08-22-2010 11:41 PM

You could just buy used (mine) and have them powdercoated. :stirthepot:

370zproject 08-22-2010 11:42 PM

what ones u got?

New photoshoot with "official" photos. Need to take a video of the wheels sometime this week.

Look forward to some photos taken in the Bay Area during our mini-vacation this weekend ;)

I was thinking...imagine if you could do your tailights the same color as your wheels?

370zproject 08-24-2010 12:39 AM

i woulda done dark blue on white

If there were some really clean clear-lens-style tails, I'd consider it. I don't want to push the envelope of tasteful modding (even though this is a female's car).

Here are some engine bay composites from the other thread. I really like these B-)

We were going to do a deep candy blue, but Bullitt is already doing that and my wife liked this color better ;)

370zproject 08-24-2010 12:42 AM

bullit?

Yeah, the guy with the 1000 hp twin turbo build. Looks like he's rocking some fine mesh wheels done in a candy blue color now.

It's pretty easy if you have a tripod. You just take one shot with the hood up, one with it down all the way. Select the part of the engine bay you want to expose, feather the area a bit, and put it in a layer above the "base" image. Doneksy!
