Relocated my Front License Plate

thought it would be a good idea to stick the license plate on the right side of the front bumper using 3M tape... so i did :D, it's a little bit crooked but i think it's fine, atleast better than being in the center.

problem is, i got 2 holes in the front that i gotta cover up somehow...

steveg78 03-28-2010 03:55 PM

errrrr I'd probably just stick it back in it's normal spot.

Sibze 03-28-2010 03:56 PM

I kinda agree. Reminds me of a evo or a rice honda

lolz, i'm not sure how i could remove it now :P.. i'll leave it there for a while and see how it goes, but so far i like it like this... thanks for your comment tho

blue660r01 03-28-2010 04:00 PM

Yeah I dont really see the point to doing this.

SE 03-28-2010 04:01 PM

That 3M tape is going to mess up the paint on your front bumper. Not to mention it's going to rub when the bumper vibrates. I'm working on fabbing a more permanent solution that is offset from the center and attaches to the front tow hook. Since it'll be threaded it will make it easier to remove.

Chriz 03-28-2010 04:02 PM

Just dosent look right. But its your call.

hazzazi 03-28-2010 04:02 PM

wow, i'm not getting any positive feedback on this... i think i'll put it back as it was. :ugh2:

or maybe stillen

ya, i didn't think much about it when i did... i just did it. and speaking of my front bumper it's already messed up from all the rock chips.

Xan 03-28-2010 04:05 PM

Warm it up with a blow dryer or something before pulling it off... save your paint

thanks for making it easy on me...

frost 03-28-2010 04:52 PM

I think it looks better than having it mounted in the stock location fwiw.

You stalking me? :ugh2:

cdawg410 03-28-2010 05:09 PM

I like it, think its a cool locale, don't move it, you obviously thought it was a good idea, the haters don't even live around here.

blue660r01 03-28-2010 05:35 PM

We're haters because we dont agree with something? Alright that makes plenty of sense :ugh:

semtex 03-28-2010 05:39 PM

I presume the OP wouldn't have posted if he wasn't soliciting honest feedback.

AK370Z 03-28-2010 06:22 PM

Looks interesting :ugh2:

BUT if you like it, that's all it matters. It's your Z, you're paying the payment (and insurance) and you have to right to do whatever you wish to your car. With that said, keep it as is. By the end of the week if you still don't like it, take it off. Did you use the regular 3m double sided tape or the 3M VHB tape ?

frost 03-28-2010 06:26 PM

Airbrush it on.

hazzazi 03-28-2010 06:49 PM

wow, this is getting interesting.. anyways, yes i posted this to get some feedback from everyone else, i know its my car, but everyone else on the streets are looking at it.. and i'd like to have something nice.. anyways, i still like the idea, i'm keeping it, untill i think otherwise.. .AK i used the regular 3M... thanks everyone for their feedback.

I don't think I like it per se, I just like it a lot more than having that thing mounted in the stock location.

if i had a choice, i wouldn't put anything on the front.. but i don't want to get pulled over... cops here find any excuse to pull u over..

so this to me looks better than having it mounted in the middle.

:iagree:

SmoothZ 03-28-2010 07:06 PM

It might actually look better if you could just cut the bottom of the plate off just under the letters and numbers. Give it that European plate look by making it look longer. I don't know. I don't like what you did, but that's just me. It's your car.

Correct, but I'm looking to make one a little more offset from the center. Also, the Nismo front bumper is a little different so the Stillen might not have the same effect.

True that I know VA is wild with that which is why I didnt say to remove it completely. I just think it looks odd on the side and uneven. I prefer it how it was JMO.

370Z JT 03-28-2010 07:21 PM

anybody use this?
'NO HOLES' LPB Kit - GoMiniGo-Home of Innovative Products for your car

similar idea to the stillen, but can be height adjusted several inches and can be moved 2 inches horizontally. 370Z not listed, but they can make them.

SmoothZ 03-28-2010 07:28 PM

Meh.... I don't have a front plate because I refuse to. Heck, I don't even know where it is at the moment.

radio5boro 03-28-2010 07:39 PM

i think it looks alright. definitly better than being in the middle. just wondering if the plate is gonna end up digging into the bumper with all the vibrations.

tommyguns 03-28-2010 07:56 PM

FWIW I think it looks good. I don't use a front plate, but if I did this would be an option.

ltp 03-28-2010 10:46 PM

I trimmed my plate so it fits perfectly in the middle of the grill.
