Thoughts on blanking out the plate?

I noticed that when some people post pics they blurr out the license plate. So I am really asking, is there a need to do that? I figure someone on the street can see your plate, and they are a lot closer to me than any of you guys.

What are the thoughts on hiding the plate numbers?

Internet = crazy people.
Yes there are crazy people on the street, but they mostly are in their house or do not have access to a computer. The crazies on the internet have access to a computer, can probably use that plate against you, and cannot be trusted.

I view it just as one of those, it takes me 5 seconds to blur/blank/etc. my plate before I posted and it is an added bit of security.

That is because you live in a backwards land, where crazy people hand out kittens.

Yes, but I did start mailing you x-mas cards. That's the first sign I'm gonna do something crazy.

I don't think there's really NEED to blank them out. I think it's just personal preference.

vipor 02-09-2010 11:18 AM

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. The ones on photobucket are blurred. The ones on here aren't.

Two reasons I can think of;
1. Somebody needs some illegal out of state plates for a red 370Z... Google... there we go...
2. You're posting all these great mods or new stereo on your car, someone else might want as well, but isn't willing to pay for....

Takes 2 seconds to blur out the plates...better safe than sorry. Then again I never post pics of myself of family members on message boards like some other people do.
