New paint chip on my 2018.

Hey guys/gals. I just got a new paint chip under my left headlight. I’m pissed that I didn’t clear bra it earlier but I may do so come this weekend.

Does anyone know if installing a clear bra would affect paint fading on that particular area (bumper) and make it mismatch in a couple of years?

Reason I ask is because mine is pearl white and I want my car to fade evenly. Hey I’m OCD but man, paying 40K for this car. You have to be OCD.

I doubt youll ever notice a difference after 4,5, or 6 years, when using a clear bra. I would put one on the hood and front bumper.

Go to a shop and they could properly buff that to smooth it down, if you arent comfortable doing it yourself.

edit: Id close this thread and put it in the misc/ off topic sectio. Youll get a lot more traffic in there.

They don't block UV, so it'll fade evenly.

I swear this car gets rock chips worse than anything I've ever owned...seems like it's been painted with watercolor or something. They certainly cheaped out on the paint I tell ya!

It’s okay. It only costs 40K. Cuz we are made out of money. Let’s just have it painted by Nissan. The whole car again lol

The guy at the installation shop told me it blocks UV. That is why I was worried.

When I painted my car factory paint was uneven. Some panels had more paint than others.

Yeah. I would never paint my car unless I Really HAVE to. Especially pearl white man. There is no matching for that.

It's really frustrating. I've had much older cars with a better factory paint job. Mines an 09 but c'mon! I had a cutlass supreme and it's paint was in really good shape especially for the year. I've touched up a few spots on the Z and at this rate I may as well just look into a wrap.

Yeah. It’s so sad. It’s not a cheap car man.

You can repair and blend a 3 stage pearl white.
Difficult.

I forget how they describe it, but basically it's UV neutral so that the paint will fade evenly, but the film (adhesive) won't turn yellow due to UV.

This depends on the product used of course. Some suck.

I've only had my 17 pw Z for a year and the amount of rock chips my car has received is insane! I don't ever get too close to the person in front of me.

But about the PW matching it all comes down to the shop you bring it to imo.

My car got hit while I was in the movies and I had it repainted at a shop of my choosing. Turned out amazing. They didn't need to repaint the whole bumper. But I'm sure it was easier to match since it was a brand new car and I garage keep it.
