I don't want to be that guy, but you might have better luck waiting a couple years before you open that can of worms. What you've already got is a very quick car for a first car. A boosted Z is seriously fast, and the penalty for fuckups is a lot higher. It doesn't take much for it to throw you off the road backwards.

I'm not saying "don't do it". I'm saying "don't do it yet". Keep up the track experience and just get a lot more miles driven under your belt before you go thinking about making the car keep up with sportbikes.

Also, your future parts list does not include a new CSC. Just expect it and have the funds set aside for the day you get in the car and the clutch won't come off the floor.

appreciate the advice, I'm definitely going to go to the track at least a few more times NA. Something tells me I'll realize that I don't need power after those track days :)

Yeah, these cars can become a handful at high power levels. I drove mine daily for a long time, and there would still be the occasional "code brown" moment.

Wrapped the stock wheels in 275 PS4S today, looks like the front rim got swallowed whole

Nice!

Is laguna is scary as they say it is on the corkscrew?

I missed out on a buttonwillow wet track day by a weekend. Would have been fun trying to drive the Z in the wet... until 1 wheel peel.

It's fine when you get used to it, mostly because of the fact that it's a blind turn and you kinda have to guess where you should point the car at. I bottomed out there in my first session :P. Also did not dare to turn TC off

Awe man thats the best part though. Leaving every corner on throttle counter steering just a little bit. Definitely would either given you "code brown" or a giant smirk on your face. :bowrofl:

yaoxiao4 03-05-2018 01:01 PM

I think I might have.. except as soon as we came out of the pits this happened

so I think i got a little scared being my first time at a wet track and first time at laguna

Miatas should be hustling in the rain.. I think there was a certain lack of #Driversmod

New wheels!

Quicksilvers 03-28-2018 02:23 AM

Beautiful 370Z you have there I really like those wheels congratulations. If you plan on one day installing a Stillen supercharger kit consider a upgraded clutch and flywheel. The South Bend stage 2 clutch and billet steel flywheel from Z Speed Performance would be my first choice.

thanks for the suggestion! will keep that in mind but I wont be going FI for a while. I realized that I'm still no where the limit of this car, and would prefer reliability on the track over a little extra speed on the straights.

Side note, got my Z1 Slotted 2 Piece rotor front, and 1 Piece slotted rear

yaoxiao4 04-18-2018 02:36 PM

Second time at Laguna Seca (last time before it comes WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca)

Cooked my rotors and got fuel starvation (ended up being my best time too)
hoping to break into 1:40s next time out

if you're ever around norcal again for track days hit me up!

yaoxiao4 05-30-2018 07:15 PM

Well I achieved my goal this time! 1:49 at Laguna Seca (4 seconds faster than my previous PB)

In between the track days I got rid of the Amuse wing for an APR GTC 300, can definitely feel the rear end being more planted and some understeer, turned TC off in the last session and car definitely rotated better on a couple of corners

one mistake I made was not checking tire pressure, it wasn't until the last session when my instructor checked and all 4 of my tires were at 45 PSI (yikes)

didn't get many videos this time but this is a gorgeous shot from GotBlueMilk, heck I might frame this

Sick shot! And sweet time dude! I'm hoping to go sub-1:50 next time I'm at Laguna (won't be for a long time sadly, moving to AZ).

New Seibon TS CF Vented Hood, hopefully this will provide a little bit more frontend DF before my splitter is installed and slightly more cooling

yaoxiao4 07-09-2018 11:22 AM

Last Laguna day of the year I promise! Onto Sonoma next

Bested my PB once again, hitting 1:47 consistently with a virtual best of 1:45, here are a couple of laps (including passing a GT350!)

Also spun out at T11 for the first time, tried power sliding out but ended up overcorrecting and spun the other way

AMUSE FRONT BUMPER FINALLY ARRIVED! took 4 month wait but it was worth it, added a splitter too. Now I have issues with getting out of my driveway...

just in time for thunderhill track day in a couple weeks!

Car is looking good. As far as the driveway goes, just keep trying different angles and going slow.

One beautiful and clean Z you have there take care of it. Make the Z Speed Performance CMAK your next modification before it’s too late.

Car's looking awesome man!

Hit up Thunderhill West twice in the past couple months, what a great track! probably better for lighter cars but I had fun regardless

Sorry to hear that you are jumping ship. S2ks are killer track cars! Don't be a stranger and do a build thread in the other vehicle section.

Yeah, the thing that made me switch is how much more fun I had tracking the S2000 and how playful it was, on top of that the car ran 7 sessions without a single issue while my Z was struggling through 5 with all kinds of issues.

but I love Zs and will always love them, I learned how to drive stick on this car, first track days, and who knows, maybe I'll keep the stock car as a daily driver :)
