BlackElectric's 370Z Journal
Setting up a forum so I can post updates as I go.

Day 88, 11,169 Miles
Installed LED interior lights (ice blue) and LED rear license plate lights (white). Had a few of these spare lying around so figured I would swap out the stock bulbs.

Day 89, 11,175 Miles
Another quick install today, took care of the trunk light in the same color as the map lights:
https://i.imgur.com/FOjaNmM.jpg?1 Also placed an order for the heritage edition stripe decals (just the sides, not doing anything to the hood or roof at the moment.) They should be here at the end of the month. |
Day 90, 11,194 Miles
Zoey went on a diet today and lost 2Ibs 7oz. Followed DEpointfive0's DIY post to remove the trunk counter weight:

Day 92, 11,199 Mile
Painted the engine cover to match the car. Also sold the old wheels from my Sentra. Didn't get a lot for them but enough to put in an order for the EVO-R rear fog light and door handle covers. :happydance: More updates soon to come. https://i.imgur.com/mNqjXsf.jpg?1 |
Looking good so far, your on the right track!!!!

Day 98, 11,231 miles
Parts from EVO-R came in early yesterday! Was planning on getting a head start on Forza Motorsport 7 but I was too anxious to put on these handle covers and the rear fog light. The number one thing I disliked about the Z was the flat aluminum colored handles. It looked cheap to me so I figured the EVO-R carbon-fiber covers would do nicely, especially on the white. I wired the rear fog light break wire to a switch I installed in the cabin so I can turn off the flash function when in stop-and-go traffic. Also installed two dummy switches as place holders for future use. Other minor updates include the LED backup lights, replacement license plate frames and stem caps. https://i.imgur.com/gWbQUcn.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/59BeM6t.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/8YoZpNV.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/rbO63nx.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/yzqvpHH.jpg?1 Just about out of minor alterations to the car. The heritage-edition style side decals should be here in the next few days. After that it will be a few months till I can pick up the fast intentions exhaust/coilovers/spoiler. |
This happened much sooner than I expected. I found out I was paying $60/month more than I should have been for insurance, plus I'm getting more hours at work now. Did some math and found out that I could afford to pick up the fast intentions exhaust! :happydance:
I just placed the order this morning, going with stainless steel all around, 18" resonators w/o the 100-cell cats. I cannot wait to get this on, I'm tired of my 2011 Sentra having more growl than the Z. Looking forward to a nice, deep tone without having to wake up the neighbors on a cold start. The heritage edition stripes still aren't in despite the expected delivery date being the 3rd. Still weighing if I want to put them on or not. We shall see. I've also got a couple other things ordered, including oil filler cap and something never before seen on the 370Z! (At least not from what I have seen). Will be keeping it a secret but am hoping to make a DIY if all goes well, stay tuned! |
Zoey got some interior and exterior work done the past couple days. Hand-stitched a cover for the rear tower bar and applied the heritage edition side decals which turned out better than I had been expecting! She is starting to shape up. Now I am just waiting on the fast intentions exhaust which isn't supposed to come in until January.

 Keep going!

I've got about one more month to go before I should be receiving the Fast Intentions CBE. I also added resonated test pipes to the order since in the, so far, two months that I've been waiting for the CBE I've been able to scrape together more funds to blow on the car.
I've decided I am going to do the test pipe install myself. I've been reading forum posts, watching install videos, and adding a couple tools to my collection getting prepared to tackle the dreaded "Demon Bolt". I'm hoping with the car only having 10k miles on it, it won't be so seized up and I plan to let it soak in penetrating oil for a couple days prior. I'm so ready for the months of waiting to be over. Will update when the tear down of the stock exhaust has begun. I might even have a couple fun little projects to do before then. Stay tuned! |

Like what you did with the rear bar, haven't seen that before, very nice.
You have a G37S as well? |
Quote:
Sadly not anymore. The G37 was my fathers but it was totaled a couple days ago. Currently it's just my Z and my Sentra which I use for my daily. |
Installed a few EVO-R carbon fiber trim pieces.
I also ordered post MAF tubes. Figured removing the stock tubes would make accessing the demon bolt easier so I might as well change them out for silicon tubes while I'm at it. The exhaust should be shipping from Fast Intentions any day now! https://i.imgur.com/YBeBUjJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xc0beGU.jpg |
Major update for the Z. Haven't posted for a while as I have been busy with school but here's what I gotten done so far this year:
-Silicon Post-MAF Tubes -Fast Intentions Cat-Back Exhaust and Test Pipes -EVO-R Carbon Fiber GT Spoiler -Tuned by Jotech in Garland, TX (321whp) -Windows Tinted (5% rear, 35% on the sides) Currently contemplating wrapping the roof gloss black, looking into upgrading the sound system, also looking at upgrading the steering wheel and maybe doing a vented hood but the Z fund is running low at the moment. https://i.imgur.com/So3hXuP.png https://i.imgur.com/P1P3ksT.png https://i.imgur.com/O9Y0uEu.jpg |
So, im going to be the one to ask. Youve now put a GT wing on your Z. Is it going to see a track? Or did you literally just put it on for looks....
And for your suggestion list, just go with sport model brakes. I see no need for a BBK in our cars as long as you have proper pads or youre making serious Power/Grip on track. |

Z1 25-Row Oil Cooler is now installed. Getting her ready for the Touge Fest track event in November. Also have SS brake lines, and EBC rotors and pads that will be going on in a week or two.
Also getting the car ready for forced induction next year. Looking to do a diff swap, tire and wheel upgrade, and swap the clutch and flywheel then she will be ready. You can follow my build on my YT channel as well: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy8...O0uOa29rjLuaw/ https://i.imgur.com/ZV0DH8x.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/zVVfFV4.jpg |
Here's a warm up run of The Tail of the Dragon from Touge Fest this past weekend. I am chasing a friend's boosted FC RX7. Unfortunately we could not get in a fast, clean run because we had some mechanical difficulties shortly after.
Also, I have the Nismo Bumper Conversion from Z1 on order and a little something from Fly1 coming in, stay tuned! |
I think major update would be a bit of an understatement for this one. Since my last update:
-Nismo Bumper Swap, front and rear -BC Coilovers Install -Center tower bar rewrapped in white microsuede -On order: CF Hood and Fenders from Fly1 Let's start with the bumpers... so I got in a minor accident with a pole which left a minor scuff on my rear bumper. I was looking for an excuse to pull the trigger on a set of Nismo bumpers from Z1 and this gave me a reason to do it. The bumpers came in great shape but my paint guy didn't match the paint properly so it came out the wrong shade of white... https://i.imgur.com/WMb230F.jpg https://i.imgur.com/p2hmss5.jpg May not look so bad here but it is much more noticeable in person. Weighing options to fix this, I am either going to try a different paint guy because there is no way in hell I am taking my bumpers back there, or I may try and wrap the car. I am not partial to the idea of wrapping it but at this point I have exhausted my car mod funds, plus I really like ViVid's space pearl Vinyl: https://i.imgur.com/O7StWrr.jpg The photo here doesn't do the vinyl justice. I am going to attempt to wrap the roof in the coming week to see if it would be viable for me to make an attempt. I also recently installed BC coilovers, sticking with a conservative ~1" drop for now until I can work out issues with the camber/scraping. The ZSpeed aluminum splash gaurd is catching on everything so I am debating if I want to do away with it. Will probably get a set of camber arms soon to address the alignment issue: https://i.imgur.com/NBhcshV.jpg I also redid the tower bar wrap in a white suede as I eventually want to do up the interior in a white vinyl: https://i.imgur.com/s7R1Q3v.jpg Have a bunch of projects lined up for next month, including installing new fenders and hood from Fly1. You can follow my build on my YT channel as well: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy8...uO0uOa29rjLuaw |
I know a few guys out here in hawaii that have the same issue, matching the pearl white is really hard to get. Like the idea of wrapping the strut bar, don't know if I can find the right "orange" for mine. Good luck on build!
|
Nice, like the wrap on the mirrors. Keep it going!
|
I like the tower bar wrap it really spruces up the interior a lot great job so far thumbs up.
