My blue Z. A love story.
So i picked up this Z in 2014. I really bought it late because I never really liked the 370z and 350z. The 300zx has always been my queen of fairladys.
http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...ure77477-a.jpg Its a base touring model. I knew id rather have a blue painted car from the factory because I loved removing panels and seeing the stock original paint over a nismo sport model or wrap, the blue was the most important aspect of the purchase. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...429-144847.jpg I then decided to do my own headlights, I have always done headlights on a 300zx (although its glass and easier). I followed the370z.com writeup to find out my halo rings were dying. So i bought another set and put another set of morimotos and they also died slowly. Now I just disconnected them in shame. I will have to revisit it one day when the technology evolves to a higher standard. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...7-z34-rear.jpg I did some ghetto mods which were temporary and removed. Plastidip and vht. i do it for the experience of working on my car and understanding the materials available. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...%20-%20Picture My 300zx since 1999. I bought it when I was 17 and never looked at any other car until the 370z. [Ihttp://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...0-dsc-0183.jpg My cheap 350z A/T. I always said if i drove into the world I would want to be in a Z. So i bought an automatic Z to drive on my roadtrips. Its been a joy. I let my GF drive too :icon17: http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...629-120820.jpg I purchased sport wheels because I feel that the design exceed many other name brand wheels in artistic form and 3d design. Its also a flagship image for the Z car. I instantly felt my launches were more consistent with this summer wider setup. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...831-150527.jpg I ended up with the nismo rear but I always did want amuse. Nismo is pretty as well and nothing really beats OEM to me. In 20 years I know the nismo will be a classic forever and a joy to see. I also added a carbon signal addon because in the Z32 world, flush mount spoiler(not wing!) are everything and I understood why nissan added the flush mount spoiler as a elegant extension of the original body from multiple angles. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...%20-%20Picture I purchased a nismo front end as soon as it hit the market knowing how nissan fanboys in the future are with relic nissan parts. It will definitely be a joy to own. I also chose single halo because honestly I felt its nice but a halo is really a BMW thing so its a little unoriginal to the Z. This is something I want forever... http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...%20-%20Picture I then bought nismo wheels. Because nismo is sacred as a brand to me(Even though its commercial now). Its high quality as well as replaceable. Another relic for my future treasure chest. I bought the Stune sides. They were cheap because they come prepainted from the factory and from nismo the stune parts are going extinct (discontinued). I dont really like them though. I feel the OEM gives it this sleeker look. Most sideskirts make the car look flatfooted while the OEM has a arch making it truly beautiful for me. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...2-dsc-0175.jpg I also got the RS1 fenders from Fly1motorsports. I like it as a modern look but ultimately I know that the OEM is stronger, fits better and blends the car better. I bought it but I never really feel to good about it. A lot of people compliment it though. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...%20-%20Picture After changing my clutch/flywheel (JWT) and installed a z csc, my master cyl blew just like everyone said. And i realized the pressure really is a lot more since my master was perfect all this time without a trace of a hydraulic problem. I bled it 3 times before I admitted it and saw a slight trace of black on the top of the reservoir. If Zspeed is reading this I don't need your warranty! I learn the hard way! :driving: http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...%20-%20Picture http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...352-370z-1.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...dsc-0134-2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...dsc-0214-2.jpg Time to drive!!!! But but.. where are the mods?? No power? The truth is I was really depressed after the 90s and the nissans became a shadow of its old personality. I couldn't mod a weak NA car.. so I saved for my turbo kit. While saving I studied the 370z. Looking for pics of fuel pumps, reading service manuals, looks at the gaskets I will need and how everything really came apart, especially in comparison to the 300zx, its not that similar. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...1-dsc-0239.jpg I went with the bp kit because I didnt want to pull my motor. I pulled enough 300zx motors and I knew how upset I get sometimes when something requires a pull. I do love twin turbos though but I love quicker easier more. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...2-dsc-0171.jpg I love electronics so I said might as well put a tablet. I always put windows setups in the old 300zx. It was harder than I thought. Still a work in progress I just left behind. i'll be back one day. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...9-dsc-0380.jpg I bought a Juke. It looks like a hippo. Some people think its looks like a frog, but I think a porsche looks like a frog and the 370z looks like a turtle. The Juke shared the 370z design bloodline so I accept its awkward existence and I love it. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...7-dsc-0387.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...6-dsc-0395.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...4-dsc-0403.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...3-dsc-0392.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...0-dsc-0393.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...2-dsc-0590.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...9-dsc-0397.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...8-dsc-0412.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...3-dsc-0554.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...6-dsc-0400.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...7-dsc-0592.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...4-dsc-0403.jpg I then went to Japan to find Nissan. My family is from Aichi near toyota HQ and they always told me toyota is really the best. I do believe them but toyota's never touched me deep in my heart. My story of the Fairlady Z has always inspired me to succeed in a world where the odds do not favor you. Its my romance novel of a business world. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...5-dsc-0519.jpg Also found a gundam. i think gundams got me into cars. I used to have a large collection and always bought them in my summer vacations in japan growing up. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...1-dsc-0642.jpg Nismo strut bar..Because.. I am not a nismo the saddest truth but the best story of a simple nissan base. I am glad to personally award my car with it. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...6-dsc-0667.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...-my-modded.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...rious-work.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...fo-catcher.jpg Interior!!!!!! I always reupholstered my own interior (precut and stitched). I realized how hard it was for me.. There's something about understanding the aspects of a car that I really enjoy. Sometimes the glue would weaken overtime, sometimes I would leave a crinkle. I really respect re-upholsterers and when I had a chance to purchase reupholstered pieces I jumped on it. The uniqueness leaves a smirk when I daily drive. A lot of mods are waiting... -Airlift -Gt Brace -Suspension -Piston and rods -AEM electronics See you next time! If ever... my Z enthusiasts. Thanks for reading. http://www.the370z.com/members/dkzny...353-370z-4.jpg |
