http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1566607282 The last photos I took for the car. No updates during the summer, and I don't have any plans for it for next season, actually, the build will go on hiatus, I will only use it with new tires, this is all I have for it, or maybe not  The reason is, I bought a new project car, that I will convert to a racing car, we have a local touring cars championship that I finally decided to enter, the regulation allows for 2000cc maximum engine size, so after looking at a lot of options, like 86s, s2k, hondas, clios, I finally bought a 2006 Acura RSX-S, although I wanted s2k, interior size after rollcage install isn't suitable for me. The car still in USA, fingers crossed until it got shipped to me. It has some front geometry issues to fix, but I like its style and I wanted something with a k20 engine. |
A stripped out DC5 with K20, yum!

Fun! :driving:
No excuses on the transports though. We want pics, dammit!! |

yeah cv, those k20s are fantastic, and don't forget an LSD, it makes a big difference in fwd cars.
Jar, I only have dealer photos :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2: completely stock in Eternal Blue Pearl, I could save some cash if I went with a modified car, but at least I will know every bolt changed with this one (like my Z). http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1566679684 |
K tuned released some inverted tie rod ends a few years back. They help ENORMOUSLY with the steering angle issues that happens when you lower these.
Definitely worth a look. The last car i built before i bought the Z was a k swapped 05 civic sedan. LMK if you have any questions, i spent a helluva lot of time with this platform. |

Thanks a lot, I made research beforehand, and saw Mike Kojima video about the EP3, and talked to Evan from SHG about the setup. I will start with changing bushings, front PCI sphericals, rear will go with Prothane, then shg slider, and tie rod (either k-tuned or hardrace). This will be my starting point along with maintenance like changing timing chain and tensioner. I will not spend on power until I sort all suspension geometry. |
Back to the track, getting my Nexens on the car, it was very hot and humid, over 90 F with over 80% humidity, a friend got his new Supra and brought it as well, his car reached 148C~298F within one lap, I added Boostane professional to my fuel so I don't face any knocking in this weather, and it did well with temps staying at 125C~257F after two laps.

Thanks, the track was dusty and got lucky with the save. I feel like I forgot how to drive :rofl2: I need to drive more out there.

Yeah, at the beginning of every season, I feel like I need a couple of track days before I reach where I was and then improve. The great about this season, I have to drive more than 100 laps more than previous seasons.

Yes dust is an issue here, Rusty, this was the first event of the season, so nobody used the track before us. The other issue, each track has 3 sessions of 20 mins, not a lot of time to be back on track as quick as possible.
The best days was when it was hosting WTCC, after they race, the grip was freaking amazing. Quote:

In that power band! Love it. And inching towards 235 kph? I can dig it.

Also, "What sav--- OH!" :driving:
And I see the brow-sweat wipe after! |

We have faced a lot of rust in the car, which the agent in US should warned me about, I complained about it, but I am starting working on the car as is so I can participate this season as planned, I will try to resurface and paint some parts, and others I will use and change them later. Started by doing maintenance to trans and engine, installed the LSD and Clutch/Flywheel. Engine in process, not many mods here, the car came with an SRI and exhaust, so I will reuse them for now, only some maintenance like timing chain and tensioner, spark plugs, serpentine belt... etc. After that, I will strip it out and install the rollcage. |
If the car came from one of the northern states. It will have rust on it.

I checked the dealer location, and it is New York, so yes, it has been bought from a northern state.

More progress and the car nearly ready to install roll cage. Also, I need to change the bolts on sunroof delete.

Getting there.
What's up with the Smart Car in the background? |

Correct Zezus, Smart has a busa engine swapped, but not a normal one, it is a modified engine that has been supplied from a Radical SR3. Unfortunately, the owner has issues with engine management and he may swap it for normal hayabusa engine.
|
Got the chance to try the new Supra, it is my friend car, it only has an h&r lowering springs. Sorry about the music :rofl2: and I forgot to zoom out a little.

Really, it is part of the truth, the handling characteristics are pretty good, nice turn in, and puts its power beautifully on exits. Tbh, it is like 90% of what Z owners want from Z35 with VR30. The power on lower speeds is fantastic, you don't feel turbo spool, and low end torque is nice and smooth. I wasn't pushing it and it did 2:25 there in the video, I think I can cut 2-3 seconds if I am going to push it, the owner did a 2:21, which is as fast as I did in my 370z, where I am on Nexens and he is on stock PSS. It is a very communicative car as far as handling. The seats are great and supporting the body nicely, seating position is great and can go to a very low position (but high hood doesn't offer good visibility, which you don't need at track). The things I didn't like, it has a lot of body roll, even with lowering springs, it is comfortable as a daily, they perform on track, but I have it as a negative, because it needs some time to get used to all that angle. Brakes feel aren't good, they don't have bite or the feel of good stopping power, but it is stock pads. Although it is communicative, it is not a fully engaging car, and transmission option isn't the best for purist (which is the only option anyway :shakes head:) To sum up, as a dual duty car, daily and track, it is a great car, very streetable and have a good handling characteristics. Hopefully next track I can try ND2 Miata :D although it is slow, I am excited for it. |
Quote:
I really enjoy my NB Miata at the track. Because it is slow you are at full throttle a lot which is fun. I also teaches you to not make mistakes and pick the best line. You can't make up time if you miss your marks! |
The most amazing thing about it, locally, where most cars are overpriced, we guessed it will be over $75k, for a fully equipped car, but it surprised us to be sold for 63k, fully equipped, but no launch edition here.
A hardtop NB mazdaspeed, is one of the cars I would love to get, but I am sure it will be too small for me, I drove the ND in street and it has good torque mid range, unlike 86/brz, where they lack it, I have a good time invested behind the wheel of them, 86/brz, and I am pretty fast in them when I compare myself with my friends, I agree with you as not to make any mistakes, it is hard to recover the time with them, also it is important to get the brake point right, brake smoothly so you don't disturb the balance entering the turn (most important in my book, as many friends brag about their late braking but they cannot enter turns right because of it :roflpuke2:), and using the throttle as fast as possible. |

I am not that far, 6' and 230 lbs.
And yes, after being very good in turn and exits, I am also working on my braking, this is the most part I am lacking right now. Hopefully racing will improve it a lot. So, a sneaky look on Smart engine http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1574631542 And finally roll cage work starts http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1574631542 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1574631542 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1574631542 We are trying to fit all the cage pipes and see if we need to make any adjustment to them, with testing welds, and if everything fits well and looks nice, we will start the final welding. Also I tried out the seat position and fitment inside the car. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1574631661 |
