Not much has changed in the past few weeks, I've just been driving and enjoying the car. This is really the only mod that has happened. Sorry it's the blurriest picture ever though!

In the past few weeks my Southbend Stage 3 Endurance clutch had started slipping in the higher gears. I called Southbend and I was told that the clutch should hold around 480 torque... At the flywheel! I'm at 525 wheel torque so it slipping is kind of to be expected, it did hold pretty well the last 4+ months though. On top of that my transmission, which has 94k miles, has started grinding in 5th gear and 6th gear. This isn't a total surprise considering how much power the car puts out now, but it wasn't an issue that I was anticipating to happen. I called a local salvage yard to get a used transmission and they delivered it within a few hours!
http://i.imgur.com/FHXnawO.jpg But, that means my car will be going back to the shop very soon. Luckily, I have obtained most of the parts for my next phase: http://i.imgur.com/75RIfar.jpg http://i.imgur.com/gWbC9GY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jb64aNE.jpg http://i.imgur.com/5U8dl27.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9iPbFqb.jpg?1 Special thanks to phunk for the first ever CJM Stage 3 Fuel Return System for HR motors, as well as the picture! :happydance: http://i.imgur.com/CyYT9qx.jpg Since this is happening sooner than I was planning there are two things that I wanted to get but I just can't afford them when the transmission is thrown into the mix. I guess those will have to wait until next year or so, hopefully this is enough to tide me over until then! :rofl2: |
To Infiniti..

My first time ever to the drag strip tonight. My best time for the night was:
http://i.imgur.com/9yS0bpH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PfV8BOa.jpg I think that run was 12.7, I need to learn how to launch better without spinning first and second. I'm sure better tires and/or drag radials would help. Edit: Inside my very first run. I didn't even know where to line up hah |
Your car is BA!
|
Here is another video from the inside where I got toasted by a bad arse truck on drag radials. He ran a 12.5 and I ran a 12.6. To add insult to injury my passenger got kicked out! Hopefully I can learn how to launch the car properly at the strip.

sick car and build man

Finished the switch to corn - special thanks to phunk / CJM for the (first?) Stage 3 RFS for a V36 sedan!
We stopped here for today, hopefully I will have time to write up more details this weekend: http://i.imgur.com/xsnv49g.png |
Holy Sh*t!!!!
Tony, why didn;t you message that to me? :p Beast mode engaged! |

Ok back to my adventures which lead up to the dyno.. One thing I didn't mention in the most recent posts is that the used transmission I got from the salvage yard, which was put in with my new clutch, actually grind 5th gear as well! I was told it had 'only 40k miles' - another testament to the 'do it right the first time' lesson that all us modders constantly struggle with.. Luckily the salvage yard would take the transmission back, however the time and money spent on installation and removal is lost.. :crying: I used a bit of my time delivering transmissions here and there to ensure things kept moving along smoothly. My original 99k mile transmission was delivered as a core: http://i.imgur.com/IGluDIa.jpg Then the used transmission was returned to the salvage yard: http://i.imgur.com/Ii958Lm.jpg And finally the expensive 'do it right the first time' lesson that I consistently struggle with (major props to David for hooking it up!) : http://i.imgur.com/aemtYdK.jpg Pretty much a brand new car now: http://i.imgur.com/JhiIrQG.jpg Since I didnt 'need' my car back right away I decided to finally go ahead with the install of my CJ Motorsports Stage 3 RFS. http://i.imgur.com/cePh6Vl.jpg?1 Turned out this was one of the best decisions I have made, because when we pulled the plugs one of them looked like this: http://i.imgur.com/Rbx3Iqo.jpg  I was waiting to install the upgraded fuel system before I switched to E85 and this sign was also added to the list of reasons. I always wanted a peep hole in my cover: http://i.imgur.com/19QHXiH.jpg The beautiful CJM in tank twin fuel pump module: http://i.imgur.com/FDTIwSb.jpg?1 Only to be not seen: http://i.imgur.com/JHkYVSb.jpg Ron ended up modifying some of the design and not using most of the hard pipe, but overall it came out quite clean: http://i.imgur.com/577UVA8.jpg The old AAM Stage 0 RFS: http://i.imgur.com/O9I1m2c.jpg That leads up to the last video where the car was filled with E85 and put on the dyno: http://i.imgur.com/gsHCsUH.jpg I picked it up the next day and did what anyone would do - met up Jwick and YzGyz: http://i.imgur.com/JuoNj1G.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0bthyWX.jpg I got owned by a fast evo: I am 289 on the left: http://i.imgur.com/uuK8eie.jpg And that's all for now, hopefully I will get to go back with some better tires soon! Now with 9.5 mpg: http://i.imgur.com/V3fMzWA.jpg |
10/21/2015: Haven't been doing too much lately besides driving and maintenance.
I broke an axle at the drag strip in early October. The day after I noticed that the axle wasn't the only thing that broke. I guess QuikSteel just wasn't enough to hold the shroud in place: http://i.imgur.com/aXXMC5r.jpg Took things apart and epoxied the shroud back in place after rebaking the headlight again: http://i.imgur.com/9OfDAYI.jpg Then replaced the axle since the car was on stands: http://i.imgur.com/WaSwjH0.jpg Sold my E63 to drop the car note so the G went back to daily duties while I looked for a cash car: http://i.imgur.com/gheeFO3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/X4P9o5C.jpg Cash car found, it's the new daily so no mods.. http://i.imgur.com/oygeURI.jpg But the tires were bad and I got wheels and tires for less than buying a set of new tires.. http://i.imgur.com/otnRgIQ.jpg A few weeks ago was Wekfest so I went to support Houston's Mayday Garage who hosted the premeet: http://i.imgur.com/9TJKi12.jpg Then showed during Wekfest: http://i.imgur.com/1PO688W.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kZzTDnz.jpg Took home this little guy: http://i.imgur.com/x3TOcff.jpg Truly am humbled that the vision is appreciated since the car isn't slammed/stanced like many of the other cars that were showing. Probably will be my last car show for awhile as 2016 is when I hope to really beat the piss out of the car on the track. :driving: |
Still nothing has really changed mod wise as I'm still waiting on the DSS axles to be made. They are supposed to ship soon, but with Thanksgiving next week I'm not holding my breath.
In the meantime, I just got back from a 2 week vacation in Japan. What's a better way to say "Welcome Home" than to take the "Show Car" to the track? Shout out to Z Club of Houston and Houston Zs for hosting an awesome track day at Motorsports Ranch in Angleton, TX! http://i.imgur.com/rukdYuJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iRz0JAz.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nxtrELY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/R15fclS.jpg |
Wish I would have known there was a track day today.
Nice trophy! |
awesome build. Im just a sucker for sedans and this is probably the best built v36 Sedan I've ever seen.

No worries. It would have been nice to get a few shake down runs in the G though.

Looking great Tony
