Renting an auto transport for Z nationals - what's the best way to do this?

I'd like to avoid spending a fortune and I'm certainly not putting 1400 miles on the Z to get there and back.

What's the best/cheapest way to haul the Z? I don't have another car I could slap a tow hook on and my girlfriend would definitely not let me defile her accord.

Suggestions? This has to be a thing people do.

a) Drive it like a man. It's a Z and should be driven.

b) U-Haul car trailer. Z will roll up backwards without the front bumper.

Hire me to drive it...drive it hard because it likes it...I mean...I'll drive it for you. :D

No. I've been there the past 3 years.....the only haulers I ever saw were haulers used by sponsors. Most everyone drove their Z. And usually they roll in as a group. Meeting up along the way.

But hey, that's my :twocents:.....but I personally think it will cost way more to haul it than to just pay for gas, lodging, and food combined.

Putting 1400 miles on the car for a single road trip doesn't really appeal to me.

It has nothing to do with not wanting to drive it. I love driving the car.

Hey DM, thats 1400 miles WITH a super charger..:icon17:

dmhenderson 08-03-2013 10:24 AM

It's not even the gas, it's the 1400 miles. If I could drive it and not have the odometer record 1400 miles, I'd do it

eastwest2300 08-03-2013 10:26 AM

Man, its 1400 "fun" miles. w/ a super charger, man its a good way to break it in..

dmhenderson 08-03-2013 10:28 AM

I'll have to think about it but i'm leaning towards not going or figuring out a way to haul it.

There are plenty of car shows in the beltway area you can attend.

DEpointfive0 08-03-2013 03:01 PM

I know this is NOT what you want to hear, but drive it.
1400 miles doesn't mean much unless you plan on selling the car when it hits 10k miles.

If you plan on selling it at 50k+, there really isn't a price difference between 60,000 and 62,000 miles.

If you still MUST tow it... I think it's be cheapest to rent a truck and rent a u-haul to put your car on.

Oh, and if you don't wanna put miles on it, buy an instrument cluster from a totaled car.
