MAZOC ZDayZ 2018

Happy New Year MAZOC! A quick post to let folks know Deb and I are on tap to have the MAZOC Cabin 660 "Open for Business" as usual for ZDayZ 2018, we plan to be in Fontana Village the entire week starting Sunday afternoon/early evening (13 May) thru the end of ZDayZ on Sunday, 20 May.

Early registration results suggests this year may be a "thinner MAZOC crowd" than past years, and that's cool, but if you are planning to attend please shoot us a note with your planned attendance dates so we can properly plan for meals/food, drinks, etc.

All for now, hope everyone is having a great start to the new year, hope to you some of you at ZDayZ 2018!

OBTW, for you anglers, I am planning to tow the boat down again this year, so there will be a couple of days on the water looking for BASS! If you are interested in going out let me know and don't forget to pick up a North Carolina Fishing license - I'll have plenty of tackle with me if you don't have any.

Oh boy... I need to get HOSER running again!

eastwest2300 03-16-2018 02:16 PM

Scott, I'll be there with Julie (my GF, you remember her) with her 2 kids (9,7) and possibly her mother (unconfirmed, as of yet), ohh AND mr. madwi (scott) from Grand Rapids, MI will be in tow, its his first ZDAYZ event, and it took a ton of begging, and finding him lodging for him to come.

We anticipate arriving thursday evening.

eastwest2300 03-19-2018 08:43 AM

Hey scott & deb, Julie's mom will be coming too...:eek:

I'm a weak maybe, at best. Had some work transitions and I'm planning a trip to Iran (whenever my paperwork gets through) so getting time off might be a stretch. If I can make it, I'm happy to take a dinner night, as always.

That's awesome, Dee! Julie seemed like a really lovely person, and it's wonderful that you are including the kids. :)

Had a great time at the MAZOC cabin. Thank you guys for hosting our get together.

Sscottfitz 05-21-2018 04:34 PM

We had a great time as well - just weren't as prepared as we should have been, we'll take a more proactive role next year - we've already reserved the cabin for the week for next year (ZDayZ 2019) - and we'll ensure we don't have competing events! Had a great time and enjoyed meeting new folks. Next year we'll be "retired" and even MORE fun!

madwi 05-21-2018 04:57 PM

Thank you very much for letting us use your cabin and space. It was great to meet you guys and gals.

it's typically full until about 2-3 weeks prior to the event. last minute drop outs is usually the only way to get a spot.

I only went once (in 2017) but Mrs. Spoiler has told me she wanted to go back again... and not wanting to deny her, we will go... :driving:

I actually only live about 3-1/2 hrs from the Dragon, so I go there a couple of times each year....

in that case.........:gtfo2:

my drive is 580 miles and per google maps 9.5 hours. but aside from rain on my drive the pas 2 years it usually is a bit quicker lol

JARblue 01-08-2019 02:21 PM

I was looking at around 1100 miles and 17 hours for my trek with an overnight stop in Memphis, if necessary. Unfortunately my work schedule is still up in the air for May, so it's extremely unlikely I'll be able to drive the Z even if I make it to ZDayZ this year.

It is looking more and more like I will be back in Hawaii for two weeks in the middle of May. Still hopeful we can push it back to the first weeks in June. It will depend on NFPA committee meetings that still haven't been scheduled.

Why would I do that when I can just show up and drive y'all's Z's that are much more prepared for the Dragon than my own Z? :icon17:

I have a 34 row FI oil cooler, Stillen brake ducts, SPL FUCAs, and an ARC coolant reservoir that I'd like to be installed before driving that stretch of road very hard. Most of them have been sitting in the garage for 2+ years so the likelihood of me installing them before May is slim to none. For reference, I still have a number of holes in the gyp board in my house from plumbing repairs after a slab leak over a year ago. And that's after patching half of the holes when I finished wiring up the living room two weeks ago lol :ugh:

Yeah it's hard to be mad. And I'm not even getting paid to be there. Just putting in face time with the necessary people so I can take over the work in a few years :D
