ZDAYZ 2017 Volunteer Info.

ZDAYZ Volunteer Info.

This post is directed toward MAZOC members attending ZDayZ 2017

Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering again this year. I was contacted by Bryan already and he forwarded the club sponsorship info and volunteer form to me. We need to arrange a volunteer effort for this year's event. I am thinking we can take ownership of the registration process like we did last year. We need a minimum of 4 people to handle registration. The more the merrier!

If you are attending and you would like to volunteer, please post in this thread and indicate your volunteer T-shirt size. I have a list of the available registration desk times and they are listed below. When you respond with your T-Shirt size, please indicate which registration desk times you would prefer (1st and 2nd):

REGISTRATION TIMES
Thursday 9:00am – 12:30pm
Thursday 2:30pm – 5:00pm
Friday 10:00am – 1:00pm
Friday 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Saturday 9:00am – 1:00pm
Saturday 1:00pm – 6:00pm

REGIASTRATION TIMES:

Volunteer List: T-Shirt Size Registration times (1st & 2nd)
Z Stig (Michael D.) XXL 1) Friday 10 - 1
2) Thursday 9 - 12:30

I can volunteer whenever. A long time ago I mentioned to Bryan that if we had enough people we could take over all registration slots. Not sure if we have that many people this year, but I am definitely wiling to take over multiple time slots.

I'm willing to do multiple shifts with registration as well.

Please respond soon if you plan on helping. I need to get Bryan some feedback.

Ditto. Just let me know when/where I'm needed.

Keep checking with Fontana. I don't care what they say, they won't get back to you if you get put on "the list," but m4a1mustang got a room there at the last minute a few years back, and I was able to get a cabin. Stuff opens up. Something will work out for you.

mults 01-18-2017 10:34 AM

Yea, just keep checking...I was able to get a fireplace room 2 days before the event a few years ago.

m4a1mustang 01-19-2017 07:52 PM

I'm on the wait list for a room from the 14-21, but apparently it is pretty long! Hopefully something opens up.

Hey Dee,

Can you PM me the full names and T-shirt sizes for you two? I'll add you to the volunteer form for MAZOC and we'll get you some shirts.

m4a1mustang 03-03-2017 07:58 AM

Seems like our lodging is sorted out so Dana and I will be there.

BTW -- what times are we down for to cover registration? Is it Thursday and Friday mornings?

370 ZZZ 04-13-2017 02:35 PM

I'm coming again this year (and will keep on coming as long as I can get up the hill in front of the MAZOC cabin). Won't be in the caravan. Arriving Wed evening. Sign me up as a volunteer for whenever and wherever you need. XXL if you have a leftover shirt but don't sweat it if I'm too late to get one. Look forward to seeing you all. Safe travels.

Redglare 04-29-2017 11:26 AM

can one of you zdayz veterans tell us zdayz virgins on what to do and not to do that's not listed on the zdayz website?

i.e. what to watch out for etc?

eastwest2300 04-29-2017 05:17 PM

ride within your limits, and whatever you do, dont cross the double yellow line (people/photographers) are watching, and you will get called out.. (im no vet, this is my 2nd time going).

have fun!

i read on a mustang forum that sometimes its impossible not to cross over the double yellow i.e. in some corners you either cross the double yellow or bend a rim, they also said to listen for motorcycles as they will get pissed off if you cross the double yellow and will turn around/chase you down and punch off your side mirrors.....

Bvllshyt. If it's impossible not to cross the double yellow, you're:

a.) going too fast
b.) driving beyond your level of skill
c.) driving beyond the limits of your car
d.) all of the above

(Sorry for adding to the temporary derailment of this thread)

Z Stig 04-30-2017 12:04 AM

Our registration session is the Friday session after lunch. Sorry it has taken a while for me to respond!

Silly wabbit, Mustangs can't turn! :roflpuke2:

Seriously, though, it is impossible to avoid crossing the double yellow only if you are driving beyond your limits. I would advise treating the double yellow as you would the embankment you will sometimes have on your right: if you cross the line, something bad will happen. As long as you drive within your limits and pull off for faster vehicles when possible, nobody will have a problem with your driving. The general attitude is that everyone (regardless of vehicle) is there to have fun, and they don't want some silly confrontation getting in the way of that.

m4a1mustang 05-01-2017 07:16 AM

Indeed. There are a few sections where it is certainly tempting to cross the double yellow to maximize speed -- but at that point you are out of control. It's a public road, not a race track, and you will be shamed (possibly maimed) if you do stupid stuff.

Redglare 05-01-2017 10:11 AM

sounds good, whats the deal on walkie talkies - need those or not really?

We usually have them for communicating while at the resort. They come in handy on the cruises and the caravans from and to home. You do Not want them as a distraction while on the curvy mountain roads there.

VERY useful. As Zstig points out, you don't want the distraction while driving the Dragon, but radios are handy. There is virtually no phone service at Fontana, which means radios are the best way to communicate while on campus. Also, if you decide to go somewhere with a group, radios are the easiest way to stay in contact. You can buy a set for not too much, or see if anyone has a spare to share.

Did you check the volunteer box when you registered? They placed the shirt order on the 5th. can you PM me your full name and shirt size? I'll need that for Brie as well. I'll reach out to Bryan and Michelle and see if they can cover your addiction!

Fast Intentions is having some cool shirts this year as well. The proceeds are going to Wags for Tags.

Yea, we're signed up as MAZOC Volunteers. We're in the 5k as well. We should be covered.
