MAZOC Coed Motorcycle/Car Cruise - September 10th

Sorry, I don't have time nor flexibility to poll for other dates. My August and September are fairly busy every weekend, and this is it for me.
  • WHAT: Our first cruise with both motorcycles AND cars
  • WHERE: TBD - We'll be going from Gainesville, out toward Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway area. Expect 150-200 miles.
  • WHEN: September 10th, time TBD (expect 0900-1000, with a stop mid-way for lunch somewhere)
  • PACE: Relaxed and comfortable for the motorcycles. Cars are free to do as they please, but I'd recommend just taking in the scenery and enjoying the ride so we dont get too split apart.

I was originally going to have this be motorcycle-only...however, I am open to having cars come as well, with 2 stipulations: there be two groups to split us up, and that NOBODY in a car even remotely gets on the tail of ANY rider. If you put us in a dangerous situation, you will not be invited back. The car group will need a volunteer to be the leader (obviously, a route will be predefined).

I an open to input regarding routes and food stops that will help us fall into that 150-200 mile total round-trip - frankly, I haven't ridden it so I don't know much about it.

For motorcyclists: if you are coming, be honest about your skill level, and come FULLY UNDERSTANDING that we go only as fast as our slowest member is comfortable with!

Cages are for losers and whimps.

Red__Zed 08-02-2016 04:36 PM

I don't think I've ever seen a BMW rider described as intermediate before.

Yeah but that implies they have acquired all of the proper BMW branded gear.

MightyBobo 08-03-2016 12:18 PM

You bought the wrong gear, Steve. All your stuff is +5 to Dank Whoolie. You needed +5 Pretentious Snob.

I say it's high time to make this a 2-wheel cruise ONLY. Kick the cagers out.

MightyBobo 08-04-2016 09:45 PM

Seems they aren't interested. Fine with me.

Great ride. Skyline is so much more fun on a bike than on a car. Great road to ride. I ran the north section again today. If the weather is nice I might accidentally the whole thing next weekend.

Red__Zed 08-10-2016 09:17 AM

I'm out. Will be traveling that weekend.

Up for going next time though.

FYSA: once we start at the meet-up point in/near Fairfax, this is >200 mile ride. ~50-60 miles out to the start, 50-60 miles on Skyline each way, and then another 50-60 back.

We'll be taking plenty of stops on Skyline (mainly for the ladies) for a rest/drink/snacks.

I expect push-off time will be somewhere between 8-9, but Ill confirm once I speak with my wife - we were planning on getting a hotel down there the night before, but due to our puppy, we just cant do that logistically...

exsanity 09-05-2016 01:44 PM

Looks like I got caught up in working this weekend. *sigh* I gotta bow out.
