Prayers needed for a friend and others

As I was looking at an app on my iPad related to an upcoming college bowl game, a picture of a good friend of mine came up. I was at first baffled, but as I dug deeper into the story, my heart broke.
My friend is a huge car guy like a lot of us. He raced in the Ferrari Challenge series for a year and has been a huge car guy for most of his life. Unfortunately, this has led to a horrific occurrence.
He met a guy a few weeks ago that complimented him on his car and he asked if the guy wanted a ride. He accepted and they took off. They had a wreck and the passenger was killed.
My friend has been charged with murder and DUI.
I am heartbroken for the man who was killed and for his family who will not have their husband and father this Christmas or ever again. I am also heartbroken for my friend and his family. No one plans for something like this happening and if we could just "take back" what has happened, we all would.
I ask for your prayers for my friend, his family and the family of the man who was killed.
This is not something that you ever expect to see about a friend of yours, but it is definitely sobering. Hopefully for a lot of us on this forum who like to push the car a little harder than maybe it should and/or have some drinks before doing so.

Thanks to all and please think before you get behind the wheel.

Sorry to hear about this tragedy. There is not a positive outcome when it comes to this type of thing. My prayers go to your friend his family and the family who suffered a loss.

Hard to comment on this as one who doesn't drink and an advocate against drinking and driving, but many blessing for all those in pain from this devastating loss.

I thought my friend knew better, but testosterone and alcohol are not a good mix.

We have all made pretty huge mistakes in our lives, but this one has had the worst of outcomes.

I would bet he knew better, but many fail to realize that a lapse in judgement can have lifetime consequences. I'm sure he is a good guy that just made a poor decision, won't point the finger as I've made many in my life as well, just keep all close to heart cause it's gonna take a lot to get through all of this.

What a tragedy and sad story to read today....Your friend made a wrong
decision in drinking and driving that killed a human - person in the process.

Your friend will now pay the legal consequences of prison time and a endless
barrage of lawsuits....

In sharing your story with us during the Christmas Holiday's its a warning
call for all of us.. "Do Not Drink Alcohol And Drive"...

I gave up drinking 6 years ago as God blessed me with a natural high...

Just another example of using poor judgment that now has affect two innocent families.

A tragedy indeed.
