Used Porsche 911 advice & suggestions

Hey guys. My dad is trying to buy a used Porsche 911 and I was wondering if any of you guys have any knowledge regarding 2005~2010 models. I haven't done any research myself yet but I'm only asking for any major issues, maintenance, problem, etc. For example, major issue regard to our Z would be CSC failure, steering lock, oil temp., etc.

He's looking to buy one with below 40,000 miles with a budget of no more than $50,000.

Thanks

I dont care its a Porsche tell your dad to buy it hurry!! Lol

Well once you go to european used premium cars such as Porsche it would be best to buy one that is still under factory warranty or extended warranty with the dealer. You can possibly negotiate for it.

There is a reason why rich people would only lease or own them just for 2 to 3 years as maintenance cost is very painful even with people with fat wallet.

Ask how much a change oil in a Porsche dealership that alone would give you an idea of things to come such as transmission or clutch repairs.

Unless your dad is a DIY guy with Porsches.

For the 997, I would personally go with a Carrera S. Last I checked, the late '00 models were well over $50K. But yes, maintenance cost will be considerably more than our Z cars. If your dad doesn't mind, or if the car is meant to be a Sunday driver, then that shouldn't matter.
