Why did that bike rack thread in the General forums get deleted? I mean it's stupid, but was it THAT stupid?

Today I learned that you can feather-edge some Duplicolor acrylic lacquer from Pep Boys and make a completely undetectable finish repair on a pearlescent car.
It's totally possible. $60 and a couple of hours = results as good as an $800 respray from a pro. |

Also today is really ******* sarcastic day. Everything I say should be taken as if I said it really sarcastically.

Those car shops that charge you to paint the whole panel just don't know the secret duplicolor "wetsand and then spray some **** on there" technique that is so important. |
lol'ed...
Deltawing takes out second ad targeting Nissan amidst design lawsuit - Autoblog sure it was a fresh design but where does it end? every car manufacturer going to get sued by mr.ford? :icon17: |

which is KY0 brilliant silver aka KY0 brilliant silver on my Z. but these two brilliant silvers are different colors. :ugh: |
but the trick is how well the gloss will blend...as it's 2 layers.

That hasn't worked in decades. The stuff you buy in spray cans (except the special stuff where you "set it off" and have to use the whole can in a day or two) is just lacquer, it dries fast and it is easy to buff and will look OK. Even if you spray clear on it, you'll still see the edge in the color under the clear and you will also see the clear overspray end. You can get a decent-ish repair out of it but if you can't see it then you're probably the kind of guy who "doesn't notice" a big blobby touch-up right by the gas cap before he buys a car anyway. |

it holds just enough paint to fill a small chip and let the paint/gravity flatten itself. :D i will try just the laquer on one of my touchups i did to see how well it blends. if it works real well, ill remove the front bumper off the G and do it for all the tiny chips she accumulated over the decade. |

The paint you have in your touch-up bottle is lacquer. Probably acrylic lacquer. I have heard that the Dr. Colorchip works well for lots of small chips - at least to get them all the same color and not show the black bumper cover underneath and stuff. Never tried it myself, though. |
