Saw this on yahoo. Pretty cool, but I'd like to know how often you need to re-apply, and what it $$$$

kenchan 04-25-2014 07:55 PM

Would suck if you crash and only old panels have this stuff..lol

SgtGoldy 04-26-2014 10:32 PM

It rained yesterday... right after I washed my car....

Thinking they need to make this stuff public already so I can drive my car into a tub full of it.

This needs to be released!!!

Same way they made self healing paint, and self healing iPhone cases...

Oh wait. They didn't (don't bring up their self healing paint, it fuckin sucks)

Probably one of the "super hydrophobic" coatings that have recently entered the market. Going by what little I have read about them, they work great but aren't very durable and are expensive.

Let's see it on a car that isn't white though. I'm sure a color-change would be a lot more noticeable

This is basically the stuff if someone wants to try it out. "Top coat should be reapplied when water no longer rolls off the surface" - I wonder how long that will be in Texas sun daily driver application :ugh:

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleu...4232/204216476

Also, "Sprays clear and dries to a flat, frosted haze, may cause items to change color or sheen and is more noticeable on dark colored objects, test in an inconspicuous area first"

From what I've read is they've improved the formula a bunch. Made it almost like a clear coat that doesn't wear out.

Going by the recent reviews at the link above, it still leaves something to be desired for use on shiny paint. But someone else may have a similar product that is shinier and more durable. For other surfaces, seems like ppl either love the Rustoleum stuff or hate it.

It will be interesting to see how far they can go with these types of products.
