Yes! In some areas, there is no such thing as glass insurance. It is not allowed because of the amount of gravel that's dumped on the roads.

Just got the call from the Chevy dealership, I think the cost to repair a minor oil leak, oil change and fixing the passenger side mirror is going to cost me more than buying a great condition used truck lol

honestly speaking though.... i know lot of folks buy cheaparse beaters for winter use, but with temperatures going into sub-0F (-20C) i dont think it's a wise idea to buy crappy pos.

i think it's better to buy a new or new-ish beater like my dd's. something reliable and sort of fun to use, great utility to help out your hobby cars (carry wheels and bits) so they can earn some meaning of why you paid a tad extra.

I do have 2007 truck too, but the '99 is such a work horse and has been through a lot lol
It has a big topper for the bed area, I can fit a crap load of stuff and dont have to worry about weather... the 2007 only has a flat topper for the bed.
