What's going on in your neck of the woods?

I have learned that VMware has brought me to drinking again! (if my posts reflect my drinking please feel free to tell me to "Go home, you are drunk").

Other than that, life is good! I really have nothing to bitch about...ok well, I could bitch about not being able to drive the Z and being stuck driving my winter beater truck... but thats about it :tiphat:

not when you work 3rd shift...my "night" is just started! and its my only day off this week so, I am living it up lol

On that note, drinking and ordering parts is kinda dangerous...to my wallet :D

Haboob 03-13-2014 08:16 AM

So, my buddy and his wife offered to pay for my room in Vegas this weekend (they're also going), since I haven't anyone to split a room with (would be a $500ish weekend for a hotel alone).

I don't feel like I can afford a $1,000 weekend in Vegas with my other upcoming purchases (wheels, int'l vacation), but now I feel like I've guilted them (somehow) into paying for my room? I told him that it's too much and I couldn't accept it, but he insists and says it'll be my birthday gift.

Do I accept it? What do y'all think?

You could accept it, and try to give him what you can for the room. He'll probably end up spending what you give him in the casinos, but doing that will relieve you of the guilt.

Hell yeah accept! If they are serious about paying for a room to spend time with you, go for it, its not taking advantage of anyone in MY book. you can ALWAYS do something nice for them when the time is right. Offer a dinner for steaks or something at your place while they are in town maybe? To be honest they are already giving you an out in saying its a Birthday present. *I* would think they really want to spend some time with you and care about you.

My answer would be based on a couple of things. First and foremost, what is your relationship with them. I have several close friends that I would accept an offer like that from in a heartbeat, but I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable accepting that offer from just anyone. Some "friends" I wouldn't accept because I'm pretty sure they would try to hang it over me even though it was their offer.

Also, the friends I would accept from can afford the cost with no hassles. If it were a close friend and I knew they were not in the best financial situation (in which case, why the hell are they offering), I would not accept simply for that.
