I also underestimated the difficulty level because I based it on my experience with my sport brakes, which just slide out the back and don't even require removing the calipers. Regardless of that, once I had the caliper removed, I couldn't figure out what the problem was...

oh ic :( sorry to hear. im not a fan of those standard brake type swapping pads myself.

I'll buy the other one off you. I need to top off my clutch reservoir. If I have a whole bottle, I'll just bleed the whole system.

The clutch also uses brake fluid? Only asking cause I haven't changed mine.....

I'm glad to hear other people don't like them either. I didn't have a lot of experience growing up, but with some help from friends I've learned a lot in the past few years. I've built lots of confidence and I know my limit. I thought this wouldn't be a big deal. That's what I get for thinking :ugh2:

Yup. I actually have ATE Super Blue in the brake system now. By the time I changed the clutch fluid, the USA government, in its infinite wisdom, outlawed the product based solely on the color of the fluid. So I used Motul. I will also use it the next time I bleed the brakes.

Bought it from Z1 - $17 and it's yours.

Should they have used two for my bleed or does one actually suffice?

JARblue 01-23-2014 08:51 PM

I just got back from driving the Z safely through her first ice experience :driving: It's about 26F and raining freezing rain in the hill country. The only ice encountered was at Mansfield Dam but very manageable at a reasonable speed. She had a nice sheet of ice on the pillars, windshield, mirrors and hips. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Good night all :hello:

Sounds good though I think I found it cheaper at Woods Fun Center of all places. I'll take yours.

One bottle should be plenty. You almost never need a full bottle for a single job. That's one of the main reasons I liked the ATE Super Blue - it came in a metal container and could be stored for a long period of time. The plastic bottles allow moisture to get into the bottle over time and moisture is the enemy of brake fluid. Often you have to throw them out sooner than you need them again.

yah, imo sport brakes are A LOT easier to do pad replacement for sure. no issue, just keep buying cars with the big calipers. lol
