The Z took a little off road adventure today at lunch :eekdance:

Driving down Parmer Lane, it appeared that someone in the middle lane hit a patch of water and lost traction. I was in the right lane almost right next to the car in the middle lane when it started fishtailing, and after three back-and-forths that got progressively worse (obviously this person had now clue how to handle their vehicle), they ended up halfway in my lane and halfway on the shoulder. I was on the brakes immediately and heading toward the shoulder, but it all happened fast enough that I ultimately had to make a pretty sudden maneuver toward the shoulder. Since I was braking hard at the same time, I lost traction and spun to the right 180 degrees ending up in the grass/mud.

Thankfully, I am perfectly fine, and the Z appears to be perfectly fine. It happened at about 40 mph, and there was no sudden impact - the Z just slid along the grass until it dug into the mud enough to slow down its momentum. The car was still on when I stopped, so I hung out inside while I waited for the tow truck (it's cold and rainy). Luckily, he was practically around the corner and had the car winched back onto the shoulder within 20 minutes of my call. I was close to the house, so I asked him to follow me to the next light in case there was a problem and I needed to pull over. The car seemed fine, and I drove it home with no problems. I got cleaned up and then went to inspect the car. The driver side rear tire took the brunt of what little impact there was and the mud, but it seems to be fine. Most of the mud washed away on the short drive home, it drove fine, and there doesn't appear to be anything noticeable upon inspection at home. I am hoping there will be no problems down the road, and I can chalk this one up to good will karma. Even the tow truck was covered by my roadside assistance and cost nothing

Btw... the car that fishtailed ended up stopping in the shoulder about a hundred feet up in front of when I stopped in the grass. I don't even think he put the car in park - he just waited for a couple of cars to pass before driving off :shakes head:

Talk about reminding yourself what to do this Thursday :)

Lol... when I opened the door to get out right after it happened, I put one foot down, which promptly sank 6 inches into the mud. I then decided to stay put and wait for the tow truck. I'm very glad for the rubber mats I have in the Z right now because I got nice and muddy getting out of the car once the tow truck showed up.
