The Z took a little off road adventure today at lunch :eekdance:

Driving down Parmer Lane, it appeared that someone in the middle lane hit a patch of water and lost traction. I was in the right lane almost right next to the car in the middle lane when it started fishtailing, and after three back-and-forths that got progressively worse (obviously this person had now clue how to handle their vehicle), they ended up halfway in my lane and halfway on the shoulder. I was on the brakes immediately and heading toward the shoulder, but it all happened fast enough that I ultimately had to make a pretty sudden maneuver toward the shoulder. Since I was braking hard at the same time, I lost traction and spun to the right 180 degrees ending up in the grass/mud.

Thankfully, I am perfectly fine, and the Z appears to be perfectly fine. It happened at about 40 mph, and there was no sudden impact - the Z just slid along the grass until it dug into the mud enough to slow down its momentum. The car was still on when I stopped, so I hung out inside while I waited for the tow truck (it's cold and rainy). Luckily, he was practically around the corner and had the car winched back onto the shoulder within 20 minutes of my call. I was close to the house, so I asked him to follow me to the next light in case there was a problem and I needed to pull over. The car seemed fine, and I drove it home with no problems. I got cleaned up and then went to inspect the car. The driver side rear tire took the brunt of what little impact there was and the mud, but it seems to be fine. Most of the mud washed away on the short drive home, it drove fine, and there doesn't appear to be anything noticeable upon inspection at home. I am hoping there will be no problems down the road, and I can chalk this one up to good will karma. Even the tow truck was covered by my roadside assistance and cost nothing

Btw... the car that fishtailed ended up stopping in the shoulder about a hundred feet up in front of when I stopped in the grass. I don't even think he put the car in park - he just waited for a couple of cars to pass before driving off :shakes head:

did the VDC kick in..???

Mr.kenchan :tiphat:

the Z is in the garage now and it is just to replace the short one I have on the trunk-lid so it's not a big deal...

did you order the hello-kitty or power-ranger...?? :yum:

sounds like fun.

i have just the front whitelines on otherwise stock suspension. works nice. not sure about their bushing or its bracket design though. :ugh:

Yea I am curious to see the difference. Agreed with the bushing and brackets forsure. KWV3's with motion cups up front will be coming soon. I hate how far out the amuse front bumper hangs, just adds another thing to the mod list. This build has turned into a money pit!

kenchan 11-25-2013 03:35 PM

do you need to make custom reinforcements on the under shroud for the amuse front?

No reinforcements however I did drill some holes to let water drain out so it doesnt pull down on the bumper/undertray to much. I was very surprised the stock one fits it as well as it does. Looking at it before the bumper went on I thought there was no way in hell it was going to work.

Talk about reminding yourself what to do this Thursday :)

Good to hear. I feel like there are more crazies on the road with each passing day.
