yah, definitely look into getting cards that give you points. i use a united milage card and i have enough to go to japan first class, or 4 of us in business. :D they also have a gift catalog you can buy stuff from using your points. i can also book hotels etc.

then the amazon card, i just use it and use the points to make free purchases. like i have a new track ball coming to me this week along with a few balls for my kids. i spent $0. :tup:

American Express FTW. We use it for literally every transaction except where it's not accepted. I'm swimming in a bed of points like Indecent Proposal.

Just have to pay it off every month :ugh2:

Thats the KEY, paying it off every month.

When I bought my first macbook, I knew I was gonna get double points using my mastercard, so with a zero balance that I had, I made several deposits on my credit card so when I finally bought it, I pretty much zero'd out the balance AND received my points.

If it's just gas, etc. I can see paying it off every month, but if it's a big purchase (say exhaust + HFCs) I pay that off over a few months. Sure, there's a few bucks interest, but it's easier on the wallet. ;)
