The best ending to top gear I have ever seen

So I sat in my room and watched the entire episode of top gear and the ending just got to me. Yes I had tears coming down it was just such a good ending to the season. Take a look if you have not seen it YOU HAVE TO. Any comments on it? I believe that one part Jeremy was very serious for a change.

its true and i hate it, i've thought that for a long time and i know its gonna happen, theres gonna be no more V12 vantages or V10 vipers, no more brute muscle sports cars eventually, you just know the sports cars of the future are gonna be light little electrics/ hybrids that will have to meet all the governments regulations and guidelines. Honestly a viper is my dream car because its rare, i think its a ridiculously awesome car and its attainable but by the time i will actually be able to afford one(i'm in university now) they won't be made anymore.

bigaudiofanat 08-05-2009 10:42 PM

I am not a fan of the viper, but right now I am so relaxed and all from seeing that that i dont care, he just knew what to say.

Lyndo 08-05-2009 11:31 PM

haha ya i know, some people don't like them thats why i said I think they're an awesome car, i can respect others opinions its fine lol but ya, the end was very relaxing and some what depressing lol

bigaudiofanat 08-06-2009 06:12 AM

LOL yes it was

BanningZ 08-06-2009 06:31 AM

It was beautiful and confusing.

The V12 is dead, because it is not necessary in a street car.

bigaudiofanat 08-06-2009 01:41 PM

Ya very true.

BanningZ 08-06-2009 06:32 PM

My mother had a 73' Jag XKE 12 cyl= 310 hp. These engines are just unnecessary anymore when there are Civics that can pull that kind of HP.

Same thing with a 512 HP Vantage, a supra can do that for a fraction of the cost.

Just kind of sad to seen an end of an era.

One day we'll all be driving 900hp 2 cylinder cars. :D

bigaudiofanat 09-06-2009 08:35 AM

That would be very sad to see man. I love that sound of that car.

Minicobra1 09-06-2009 10:12 AM

Yeah, I've been a big block muscle car fan for a long time, it is an end to an era, but I'm actually looking forward to lighter more efficient cars of the future.
I think my Turbo Mini changed my view on that, at 200hp and only 2500lbs it is way more fun to drive and as fast as my stock older Mustangs and Cameros were. I love the fact that I can get 26mpg out of a car that can do 0-60 in under 6 secs.
I like the look and sound of the new breed of muscle cars, but the current Mustangs, Cameros & Challengers are just way too heavy. The Challenger is over 4000 lbs!! that's just ridiculous. It is time for a change. Go out and test drive the new Lotus Exige S, you may have a change of heart too.

Sadly, history seems to repeat itself. I couldn't have said it better myself, I wholeheartedly agree with Jeremy Clarkson, and it is one of the main reasons that I bought my 370Z. The 2012 EPA fuel economy mandates and green movement in general are putting the era of the sports car in grave danger, and the sports cars as we know them are in the final twilight.

I think we are going to see a mass extinction much worse the death of the American Musclecar in the mid-70's, and the demise of the Japanese sportscar in the mid-to-late 90's. The V10's and V12's have all but been extinguished from all but the most exclusive exotics, I fear the V8's are next, and the V6's may follow if this madness does not stop. Soon we will all be forced to drive underpowered, small displacement hybrid 4-cylinders, or electric vehicles. Sure, the picture I paint may be a little extreme, but it is not completely unrealistic.

Sure, technology may find a way, as long as there is a demand for it. I get the feeling that we will first see a reduction in performance, like the late 70's musclecars that managed to survive when all the emissions crap was tacked on them (the 1978 to 1983 Corvette comes to mind). It will likely be years before the affordable performance of something like a Mustang GT, 370Z, or Camaro will be re-realized with affordable hybrid or electric technology. Even then, if the market has been extinguished, will someone put the effort into reviving it?

What I really dislike about the green movement is the way that it is being implemented and accepted, but that is a very political discussion. I wish the people pushing so heavily for the green movement would look back and see how far we have come. As Minicobra1 and BanningZ posted, we have come a long way. I never would have guessed that I would ever have a 3.7 liter V6 that develops more power than a 5.7 liter V8 and is more than twice as efficient.

bigaudiofanat 09-06-2009 03:22 PM

Well I see it this way, I have driven 4 cylinder sense my fist car and that is all. My Z will be my first v6 ever to actually own. I have seen what they can do and am very impressed. But what I do not like is some kid that just got his honda civic slapping a bunch of mods on and think he is fast and furious. That is one of the reasons I am getting a z. I see it as something someone in my age would drive. Do not get me wrong 4 cylinder cars can be fast. It is just pointless and stupid to see them everywhere all supped up. One day I hope to have a v8 or v10 super car. It might not be the coolest to have anymore but I will get a sure pleasure in putting my foot down and hearing that big engine growl.
