ringo's new one...i must say whenst i saw gregg rolie, from santana early was in the band, along w/my finding, finally, a mpg mix of more than 43+ yrs of wanting a "clean" version, much to my surprise, the original 'rolling stone' book guide review way back when, A: jose "chepito" areas glorious latin horn/percussion album was released in feb. '15...

and thou rolie seems somewhat less apparent, "chepito" is very much a solid sound of early 70's latin rock...

I didn't realize but this song is a tribute to Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and Big Popper

"February made me shiver/with every paper I'd deliver.. The Day Music...died"

Yep -- now everyone's all up in arms about the meaning of the dry levy... uh, hello. its clearly a metaphor for unrealized ambition. My guess is, symbolically linked to the loss of the Big Bopper (Chantilly Lace!) et al before they could really break out (and then probably begin to suck...).

Is it better to burn out than fade away...? Would it have been better if Time hadn't slowly murdered the Rolling Stones? I think Sting can stop now too...

FWIW: I've thought about this a lot over weepy vodka shots in honor of Joey Ramone, Jay (Reatard) Lindsey, Lux Interior, Ray Charles, Dave Brockie, James Brown, Roy Orbison, etc etc etc...

It doesn't matter whether you burn out or fade away: What DOES matter is that your work has IMPACT. Meaning, it not only gives people something to think about, feel about, but it also inspires a continuation of the production of NEW cultural products (music, literature, style, ideas, knowledge) by subsequent generations.

In a way, having children is the fundamental expression of this, but so is teaching and creating something that others can learn from and that can grow on its own down the road.

When Justin Beiber dies, MAYBE his mother will cry.
