90's Kids
I got into a friendly argument with my friends about the cutoff date to be a 90's kids. I was wondering what you guys/gals opinions are. IMO I think the cutoff date is 1988 and maybe 1989. I think if you never jerked it to your pop's VHS porn stash and slamming pogs while licking a ring pop than you're not a 90's kids.
What do y'all think? |
i'm '87 so i guess i count. sadly i'll admit while cleaning the other day i found some pogs/slammers and actually went through them and had a laugh lol
|
:ohsnap1: I'm a 60's child.

I'm an 80's baby but not sure if I'm a 90's kid... I guess because I know what all that is. I would have guess you would have said something about Atari, Nintendo, lik-em-aid, gummy anything, and cabbage patch kids... Not to mention vanilla ice and jump around (house of pain). And 90% of my time as a kid was spent outside except Saturdays when I had an intimate relationship with a huge bowl of capt'n crunch, all the milk in the house and about 60 hours of cartoons starting at 0600. Just saying. Oh yeah. And fast and furious isn't what got me into cars it was Smoky and the bandit and that old racing movie with Kenny Rogers .... Ummm six pack
Edit: garbage pail kids |
I'd say probably 86 or 87. You have to be able to recall the TV shows, music, etc. (along with the things you've stated).

Hell, I can't even remember all of the cool stuff from the 90's and I was old enough and supposedly competent enough to understand it all! :icon17: I will say this though and I know I'm in the minority, esp. since I grew up with them all over the radio - I can't stand Nirvana, never have, never will. |
'92 here. I loved me some Captain Planet though :icon17:

nirvana is pretty good i like most stuff from them but i can see where some stuff could be strongly disliked lol |

It's the same thing with Chevelle today - I hate them, because it just sounds like the singer is whining out the lyrics. |

I remember being 18 and working at the mall... I looked over at the Radio Shack TV and it had Power Rangers on it (the original one) and I suddenly realized how old I was (even at 18).
Now it's ten years later and the feeling is worse. :icon17: I used to watch Captain Planet all the time before school. :rofl2: |

the white and green rangers in the original were the best lol |

Power Rangers....Barney? I think those would qualify as 90s. If "wrestling" to you is Raw and Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan being an *** and you don't know what WWF was, you're 90s. (The one and only time I'll reference bygone days of my wrestling watching is illustrating the 80s and my childhood. And even then it makes me feel dirty!) |

i remember being there for one of stone cold's first appearances and got to meet him  |
Born '79, but don't really consider myself an 80's kid since I don't remember stuff like the music or TV shows from that time. Though I loved Transformers and Voltron. Those were definitely 80's (and bad ***).

OK, so I think I'm pretty much spot on with my cutoff date being around 88 while my friends was saying 92.
Ahh yes, good times http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/x...370Z/nfnds.jpg |
'83 here, and definitely a product of the '90s. I had red hair, rocked my face off to countless punk bands...stage dove, slam-danced...all kinds of summer festivals. I remember the beginning of file-sharing, and the demise of Napster. It wasn't all that long ago that I was still making compilation CDs. Skateboarding, skitching, and BMXing were extremely popular when I was in HS (graduated in '01). I'm still not even 30 yet. The funny thing is, people talk about kids these days, but when I go back to my old neighborhood...there are just as many kids out playing and hanging out as when I was younger. Just a new age.
And the answer is yes, I still wear flannel shirts. |
Hah, now there's a good difference! Mixtapes vs cd compilations. :)

'89 here, I count myself as a 90's kid, even if I can't remember the first couple years..I remember watching Captain Planet, Doug, Rugrats, Barney, Hey Arnold, Boy Meets World, Recess, playing pogs in Elementary school, marbles anyone? I also remember wanting a pair of "Soaps" shoes, all the cool kids had them lol. Rollerblading was cool too, skate station, etc..Don't forget the original Pokemon cards?!
|
Dragonball Z! Enuff said. :happydance:
|
I think this question is open to interpretation because a baby born in 1990 is a 90's kid but i bet you he/she wont remember anything that happen til the late 90's.
If you remember the G I Joe, Transformer, Doug, Rugrats, ahhhh scary monster, Recess, Catdog, X-men animated cartoons and floppy disk, mouse (with the rolly ball), Oregon Trail (the game), jeans with holes on the knee, Yo-yo's, you should be considered a 90's child.. |
If you remember the sound that green ranger makes when he called his dragonzoid then you def are a 90's kid
|
'81 here... but I'm super crazy 80's, but I also miss the 90s. I'm going throw this one at you guys:
